Default Got my reel.

Guys, I really appreciate all of your help. I got this for my B-day.
I absolutely love it. It is such a smooth reel and casts very well. I couldn't be more satisfied with the reel I chose.

http://www.flickr.com/photos/74201270@N00/ for pics.

It also came with some reel oil. How should I use this and when?

I noticed the Quantums were at their original price, then they went up, and now they're down.
At Sportsman's Warehouse, the Tour PT is $200.00

Do you think a Quantum Tour PT is better than a Revo STX? I think the PT isn't smooth.

Thanks again everyone,

Julien

Jooleyen,

No need to have buyers remorse. You bought one heckuva reel. I bought a Revo S and absolutely love it. A lot of the pro's that have been using this reel love it and it's not just because they are sponsored by Abu. Pro's aren't going to use something that they don't like no matter how much money they are being paid.

cool. I always kinda feel like that when I buy something. But I usually find out it was a great choice once I've used it. My next reel (probably 6 months away) will probably an SX model. I love this reel so far!

The STX is amazing. You should feel no remorse on the purchase

I forgot to mention that my NEW rod holder has one more spot taken now. And my new rod finally isn't lonely.

I'll post pics of the rod holder and my first bass with the new setup.

Once again,

Thanks

Jooleyen, does the handle on your STX have any play? I just got one yesterday and their is a slight bit of play or wobble. I bought a SX recently and there isn't any play on that handle. I should have noticed it in the store, learn every day.

Bob

No, I checked everything right when I got it. I'm sick of getting products and having to return them, when I could've saved myself by testing it immediately. I was actually surprised that there wasn't any play.

Joolz-regarding the oil-that is for the bearings, and if you want to you can put a drop on them, but I wouldn't worry about it for right now.

A little oil will go a long way. I usually check every couple of months, which is usually 10-12 trips.

Great. So I should open the sideplate on the reel, or just look at the schematics and find the bearings?

the bearing you need to oil is under the tension line control knob... it should be on the same side as the reelhandle..loosen it all the way, take it off, and you'll see a plastic casing over a bearing, just drop one drop in there, then replace the knob..just make sure that each time you put on a dif lure, its weight will be differant, so adjust the linedrop accordingly...I always tie the lure on, hold the rod ata 45 degree angle, then hit your thumb bar and see how far the lure drops...if it drops a foot or so and stops, you have it set OK....it it doesnt drop at all, loosen it till the lure drops a foot or less...that will be your setting for that lure.

Thanks JB. I personally don't like using the tension knob unless I'm casting with heavy winds. I feel limited or something. I don't know how to explain it.
