i don't know much about champoin boats or fitch motors. but i have never heard anyone say anything bad about champoins. on the other hand i have heard a lot of people say they don't like that motor. there isn't a motor out there that everyone likes. deffinatley have the motor checked out thoroughly. i would tell the dealer you want to take it to another mechanic, if the check up comes back good then you will pay for it and if it comes back with something wrong he pays for the checkup and fixes the problem. if he has nothing to hide he shouldn't have a problem with that.

also, i have heard that you just can't beat the ride in a champion. they are a pretty heavy boat which makes them a good rough water ride, or so i hear.

I rode in an 80+ MPH Champ a couple weeks ago in S.C., great bote. On the other hand I have never heard one good thing about a Ficht. Seems like there are a lot of problems with them.

They probably put the motor on in '02 ? The Champion is my favorite boat to fish out of.They usually aren't found for sale in my area, great riding boat. I can't remember what the problems were with the ficht motor.I remember back a few years ago, everyone was using them, now I can't remember when I have seen one lately.I liked the old vindicator and intruder motors before Ficht was invented. was it a injector pump problem with the ficht that everyone abandoned them ? went and looked at the boat today.....the hull was in great shape but took a closer look at the motor to see that it was a 99 and not a 02....and said something to the dealer about it and he said he swore he thought it was a 02......after seeing it was a 99 i helped him put the cover back on and told him to have a nice day.....going to indy in the morning to check out a 99 skeeter 185 with a 150 yammy vmax

All in good time.Once you find the boat , you will know its the one you want. Then get back at the board again to ask questions, although it ain't gonna matter, you'll already know thats the boat you have been looking for. Skeeters fish nice as well.I personally would prefer the Yamaha over the Ficht motor, but again, I was not buying it. Let us know how you make out. Ivan

Weidner, I was actually going to go and look at that boat as well. It looks nice. I guess the guy buys bank repo's and then turns around and sells them. Not sure if he does any work to them or not.
