Newbie needs help

Can someone explain to me how a onboard charger works.And if its worth having on your boat.I have a 1986 skeeter strada f80 if that helps any.Oh yeah once you add a onboard charger will you have to plug anything up to charge the battery? Or will the onboard charger maintain them?

Skeeterman, the onboard charger-most, anyway-are designed to be a "set it and forget it". Plug it in and it charges, then maintains it. I plug mine in when I get back from the lake and unplug it it when I head to the lake.

what reb said. and yes they are worth having on your boat! you don't have to have a bunch of chargers or keep an eye on them to see when they are charged up. just plug them in and leave them. and really when you look at the cost of them and compair it to buying 2, 3, or 4 battery chargers depending on how many batteries you have in your boat they aren't that expensive and a lot less of a pain in the @!$.

DITTO!! T`hey are one of the better investments for boaters. Ads a little weight but you can put the dang thing anywhere and wire it in. Like Reb said"Set It Ferget IT"
