Wow - not only no rear straps but I guess no safety in the bow hook either!
Interesting to that there's no remnant hook or strap in the bow eye.

Probably got side tracked signing autographs.

I've heard of reluctantly having to leave a boat on the side of the road....but jeez, I always thought you left it on the trailer!

Bass boat fer sale - motor excellent, needs prop and hull needs a little work.

Betcha somebody wishes their name wasn't on there!

(Edit: Just hit me - it musta taken a heck of a bounce or two to get up on the guard rail like that!)

Must have had a bad day on the water to pull a bone head move like that. What i want to know is how fast was he going and how big was the bump that he hit to bounce a 2500lb boat off of a trailer.

My guess is that it slid off the back gradually.

I don't think he forgot to strap it down, it must have just come off as a result of the bad crash:

"
Norman, OK - While traveling to the final BASS Northern Open, Dave Smith had a "little" accident. Dave was just outside of Indianapolis and his trailer jackknived in the heavy mist, and sent the Ranger and his Ford F-250 tow vehicle across many lanes of traffic, ending on the guard rail.

The boat came off the trailer and skidded to a stop after 100 yards. "I'm just glad no one was injured, and I didn't hit anyone" said Smith. Dave is a veteran on the Professional Tour(s) and was very glad to escape this one without incident. "I want to thank Randy Hopper, Kim Ott and Ron Marler at Ranger boats, they are really taking care of me and getting another Cabela's wrapped Ranger Z520 ready for the PAA event in just a few days."

Interestingly enough, the motor, all the electronics, trolling motor, and both power poles were in perfect shape and can be transferred to the new boat.

Thanks for the info Bender. I would hope he wouldn't forget his straps.

The same thing happened to me when I blew out a tire on an interstate.

There is no way a strap will hold in that situation. The amount of inertia is too great, somehow, somewhere something is gonna give and it will cause damage. Just glad that like in my case, somehow the boat and trailer didnt hit anyone.

No, this was before the spook was a gleam in my eye. Had a 16' tracker.

One reason I prefer the smaller boats is the trailering aspect. I had bad luck pulling that tracker, blew the head gasket on my first vehicle pulling it uphill and then had that accident. People seem to always try and pull a little bit larger boat than they should be pulling with their vehicle, and go just a little faster all the while doing that.

That ranger in the first picture needs a little tlc from Mr. Photo.

Most of the straps they use are 4000 pound strenth jobs. 90% of nose winchs are made by Fulton. I have had mine come loose during traveling. The reason I had the 4000 pound strap on the bow eye. If you wreck things go where they want to. I have seen boats come off the trailer and go a 100 yards further away..
