Default Troll motors/ weedless

Looking for a transom mount 12 vt. that is good for going through thick weeds. What are your suggestions?

P&J is probably right here. I have to agree with him in that your probably looking for the impossible though. I've had two trolling motors both Minn Kota and Motor Guide that supposedly had "weed proof" props. I don't believe such an animal exists. Maybe Tim the tool time guy can fix ya up.

The only truly weedless motor I've ever seen was a paddle, and it made my arms hurt a lot.

12v just won't do it. I've heard good and bad about the Kipawa T/m prop and I'm not certain they have one for 12v. I'm running a MinnKota 101 and "heavy" weeds bog me down, and I'm looking for a fiberglass or alum prop to see if that helps.

The bow mount I have is an older model. It has an alum prop. I just hate picking up the thing and clearing the weeds every 10 to 20 feet. I just thought maybe the newer models were a little bit better. What about those round rings that go around the blade, do they help?

When going back in the shallow weed infested flats to throw a frog. When you have to go get the fish you can't ski across the weed mat is my problem. using the trolling motor to get there quickly is a whole nother can of worms.

Even the weedless props get hung up when you're going slow.

Here's my solution. I use it all the time when slop fishing or when tryng to get close to a dock to free a snagged lure.

What ever happened to those "baskets" that TMs used to have a long time ago? I kind of remember them helping but I haven't seen any for ~25 years.

Short of a push pole just make sure your motor is up as close to the surface as possible. My 2 blade Weedless Wedge 2 on a MinnKota has been the best I have used but not perfect.

I use a push pole myself.

Get or make the weed cutter knives for your troller. They do VERY VERY WELL.

Another thing, sharpening the blades with a Dremel helps a little.

Haha. I've gotten myself into spots so bad the only way I could get out was cast my lure at a stump and haul myself out. God bless Sufix braid!

The dremel sounds easy. Ive used a razor knife and a fine file to sharpen mine. It does help, but the weeds get smart and outnumber you.

I've got a flimsy 3 or 4 piece paddle that I've had to use

92, you just gave me an idea. Being a roofer, it's not at all uncommon to see lengths of conduit in a job site dumpster. I need to snag an 8' length and keep it in my boat.
