Zooker, That be a light for bullhead fishing. I only caught 2 last night, anit going to clean just 2, so I released them.Did hook a good carp momentarily, needless to say with 6 lb test, I anit had him for long, once he figured out he was hooked.I should have used 30 lb braid and tied off on the boat cleat. I finally snapped a few photo's of my boat, she ain't much to look at, but she definitely gets me to the fish. Specs: 15' Quachita fiberglass tri-hull, 28 hp Evinrude outboard, 46 pound Motorguide trolling motor, Eagle depth finder, and a decent sized livewell. I bought her for $500 and added the outboard, trolling motor, and depth finder. Last spring I got rear ended on the way to the lake and it caved in the transom. I spent a little of my free time here and there throughout last year and slowly repaired the transom myself, so all last year I had to fish from a dinky jon boat or from the bank, I'm extremely happy my boat is back in working order! Here she is.............

Brings back happy memories of my "beginner" days. No hurrying. Cheap gas. Good times. And...no &^%@! speed freaks masquerading as fishermen and, best of all, NO *&@^! jet skis.

Thanks for the memories. I'd fish with you anytime!

Zooker,

How fast will your ride go? I am looking at a 1998 Ranger R61 sport with a 90 horse Evinrude. I have heard that this ranger boat will top out at 45-55mph. Just curious. Thanks!

Its a 14 ft. mirrocraft with a 25 hp Merc.I had a 20 hp merc, but the lowerunit froze and broke the casting during the winter, so I found this used 25 hp fairly cheap. The starter went on me last fall, I have got to get a new starter($135.00 for a new one) or keep pull starting it.It starts easy enough, but I like to turn the key and go.Those Nissans are a very nice motor for boats our size..P N J

evervette
i would bet money that the r61 outweighs mine by 800 pounds easy.. i would say depending on set up low to mid 40's on a good day with my lard butt in it 36 gps if the water is flat..

my buddy is selling his 17 foot ranger with a 115 on it. it only goes 52 in flat water..

Here is my little tin can/sail in the wind:

I really need to unwinterize it and get out on the water. This year is not giving me any time though, still at work now.

I had the boat at work. Those are hydraulic oil drums for the machines we build here, tube and pipe benders. I have cleaned it up a bit since then but it really needs new carpet. I do plan on welding on some of those guide posts to the trailer before I take it out this year. It is hard to load by myself.
