Buying Lures?
This may seem like a newby question, but I have this fishing trip in June. Will I be ok to load up on new lures now? What I mean is will the hooks dull a lot over that 5 month period of time even if I keep them in the package? Thank You to anyone who answers. God Bless and Have a wonderful night.

store them in a cool dry place in your house and they will be fine.

Go right ahead and buy them now. A lot of guys change out the hooks to their favorite brand. It's also a good idea to check the hooks to make sure they are sharp when you buy them. There are brands that have better hooks than others.

Buy your baits now or when they go on sale. The only thing I would wait to buy is line. I usually buy that right before the season starts, but that is just me.

I could just see the expression on my wife's face if she opened the freezer door and found fishing line. I am sure that would be followed by the statement "What the ....is this doing in the freezer?" Hmm...it might be worth a try just for the reaction!! |

Hooks won't dull in the package, unless they get damp and rust. If going in storage for a long while you can always put them in a sealable plastic bag with a silica gel pack or two. I keep silca gel in my lure boxes over the winter to prevent rusty hooks in the spring while they're stored in the basement.

Like the others said, you can buy them now without worry. However, if you can, I'd wait a few weeks yet because Bass Pro, Cabelas, Gander Mountain and others start having their big sales then.
