My turn, got my tube today.
I was doing some spring bush cleaning to keep me above white trash status to my neighbors today and up rolls the ole brown and yellow. Out pops a man with a 7.5' 2" PVC tube. It was like angels, AAAAAAAHHHHHH. The UPS man, got a "here's your sign" when he said, get you a new rod, and I said nope, needed 7 1/2' of PVC for busted pipes on the last cold front and too lazy to go to town. I didn't talk because of my excitement. But he actually waited in my drive while opened the tube hahahaha. Got my TigeRod TX 7' M crankin' stick. I know he doesn't frequent here much anymore, but sweet work to say the least. I snuck inside because Flea thought I was still bowed up in the yard, but I wanted to relish in my moment of glory. Until she caught me and sent me packing. I paired it up with the Curado E5 I got in last time I was home and now comes the hard part, line. Do I run with flouro or mono? I am probably going to go with #10-12 either way. Me and Flea are heading to Hattiesburg tomorrow for a date night. So after some mall ratting, uhg, it will be time for Gander, yey. Any suggestions?

Deep cranking, shallow cranking....what's the plan for that combo? I'm a mono guy, never have tried any flouro, so I'd stick with some good 8-12 lbs test mono.

Shallow to mid level, probably 12-15' max on the cranking. I would have probably wanted a little more stiffer rod for a bulldozer billed crank. I might try the CXX from a note a little birdie dropped me. I think I am going to meet in the middle and go with 10 and just do a little testing until I get it figured out. I have high hopes of being called Biffle Jr. by the end of the year hahahahaha. Making a trip to the Okhissa Wednesday 601boy. You ought to load up and come on down.

Man, I wish. If you ever go on a weekend, I'll be there. But most of us landlubbers work Monday through Friday.

What about trying to get a meet up at the Panther in March for a chance on some beds? I will pitch you some greenbacks on gas if you bring your boat.

Bubba, I would try 12lb mono. It's seems to be a great all around type of line. Not too thick where it could hinder the diving depth but not to thin that it would break easily. The other reason for mono is you could use for a topwater setup as well.
Congrats on the new rod!! |

Bubba, congrats on the set up. I'm still waitin on my rod from TW. Gonna use the same reel to. If your goin to Gander they have (Sunline) Siglon fluoro for $5 a spool. I'm goin to try it out. If it doesn't work I'll use it for filler. I'll be using it for deep cranking.

Bubba, I'm ashamed of you! You brag about a new rod and fail to post any pics... how could you!
Haha, JK, congrats on the new stick man, let us know how it is once you get to use it! As for you line. Try P-line CX, or Floruo clear. I've also heard pretty good stuff about sufix deep crankin. For flouro, Seagar InvizX would be great! Or you be a little experimental and try or 6lb Pline CXX, it's more like 11lb breaking strength.

Man, you have to acknowledge the presence of a fellow bait monkey victim. UPS guys don't wait around for anything. Their schedule is usually way too packed. For this guy to stand around to see what kind of rod you got...he must also be a true fisherman first.

Bubba,
I know when we were talking lastnight I told you about P-Line CXX, but I totally forgot about another line that I started using late last fall and really really like it. It's P-Line Evolution. Really strong and it cast really smooth. If I am trying to get a crankbait as deep as possible then I will go with 10lb but if I am fishing shallower where I don't have to get every inch of diving depth out of my bait to hit the bottom I will go with 12lb. here is a look at Evolution http://www.p-line.com/product_detail.php?id=602

Picked me up some CXX 12. A few Picasso 3/4 oz punching weights, 4" green/pumpkin beavers. And some flavored tootsie rolls. When in the world did Rat-L-Traps become $6?

Every other weekend, the wife works and the baby and I have a weekend all by ourselves. So if we can, we need to set this Calling Panther trip for one of the weekends she's off. If that doesn't work out, then I'm pretty certain I could round up a babysitter. Either way, I'm looking forward to it.

Alright... It's the 7'2" MH XF Shimano Cumara I've been wanting to get for over a year now. And once it comes, I'll get to sit and stare at it till the ice melts!
