Propbait....chances are you don't have one. Its ok, I'll get a couple off ebay - Christmas present for my Dad, who used to use them almost exclusivly as a kid.

I heard somewhere the devils horse was discontinued. If thats true it would be a shame, that was a terrific topwater.

Thats good the hear if its true Marty.

Hey, I got an excercise for yall...name every propbait on the market today....

I can think of 2,
Devils Horse
Nip-I-didee

Seems that there arent enough propbaits, considering theres a verifiable million jerkbaits, stickbaits, poppers and frogs on the market.

smithwick toothpick, i read where someone when they were growing up is all they used was a toothpick lure, when fishing. given the variety old lures, sizes, shapes, materials used, colors and imagination of all of those old lures, one has to wonder if they really worked all that well. but then, compare the high tech lures we have now, with synthentic materials, plastics, paints, they are remakes of those old lures basically. sometimes i think fishing was easier with just an old worm and bobber. considering the underwater cameras we have, depth finders with sonar, and ultra sleek boats with jet motors, we have taken the sport to a level that far surpasses the worm and bobber, and ya know, that aint a bad thing. good fishin to ya

I think that is an AC shiner I used to have one and yes they were from the 60's and 70's. they most likely were copied off a broke back River Runt Heddon or a pikie.Fish2win

I think you are right, F2W. My first thought was a River Runt but I don't remember Heddon making a jointed one.

Learn something new every day.

Anybody remember the Zara Gossa? Supposed to be a sub-surface walk-the-dog bait.

Yeah, they lasted all of two or three years. They were supposed to be a hard bait version of a soft plastic.(damn can't remember the name, They were made in florida and they were the first "suspending" soft plastic jerk bait to gain wide popularity. bass assassin mimicked them with the Shad Assassin.) Sluggo...that's it. OOOooooh no! It's SLUGGO!.
Sorry, Mister Bill.

They made a lure called the Zaragossa which didn't sell that good.I don't remember the river runt looking like that.I have several river runts and river spooks made by Heddon.they look more like a mini version of the Strike King Spences scout lure. I have a Heddon headhunter crankbait that was wedge shaped bait designed with a hole in the diving lip.

Anyone ever heard of a "cousin II" ?
It's a crankbait that resembles an "S" in shape with a wire lip.
