I basically pitch to everything using the standard grass jig head.I have been known to switch to a wider asprin type head when fishing sparse short weed clumps,shallow shoreline, skipping & pitching under docks.The lakes are usually deep natural lakes here so the target areas are rapid tapering shorelines and thick weed infested flats.I do fish football heads deep for smallmouth ,but prefer a spider grub, or single tail grub rather than a skirted jig for that application.

There is no right or wrong way to fishing jigs. I just keep plugging away,trying to figure out the presentation and depth pattern,the fish will tell me what is right when I stumble across it. Ivan

we don't really have much grass at all around here to deal with so you don't see a lot of grass jigs around here. we do throw spider grub type baits a lot and they are deadly on small mouths here as well.
