Default 10' jon boat

I have a 10' jon boat and I want to fish small lakes and ponds out of it with 2 people. What do you think I should do to it to make it like a mini bass boat (seats, motor, etc.)It is only 3 ft wide but it is stable enough for one person to stand up in. Thanks in advance.

i have a 10 foot jon boat also..i have 2 seats with swivels, a live well, storage, (2 trolling motors, 1 3.5 outboard - the smaller trolling motor will be used with the outboard...the transom mount one is 54 pounds of the thrust and the smaller bow mount is 28.) i also have rod holders for just cruising and ones for trolling...

What do you have for storage. Do you have a deck. Did you buy a livewell or make one with a cooler. How does it move through the water. Isn't it a little heavy?

what i did for storage is cut a big square hole in the top of one of the benches and put a piece of plywood with a hinge on the hole. i do not have a deck. i took a cooler and bought an aerator and put it in the back of my boat (but i will only use this for tournies only)...its not heavy at all..i added mostly small stuff and made some changes in stuff. i never really added anything with weight.

If you want to make it like a mini bass boat, you're gonna need a larger boat. The smallest boat that two people are going to be able to stand in, on a decked boat, is one with a 36" bottom minimum.

What if I put 2 pedestal seats in it. Would this be unstable or would it work. Also how do you paint an aluminum boat thats never been painted?

Anything to greatly change the center of gravity in that boat, and you're gonna have problems. My suggestion would be to save up for a 1436, then go forth with your plans there.

However, if you are just wanting short pedestals to mount to the seat, maybe 6-8 inches max, you may be ok.

I painted mine with a suction fed paint gun, one of the cheap $20 models, and single stage automotive paint. Roughed it up with a scotch brite pad to start with, but mine had the factory olive paint on it.
