Default Swimbait Rod

can i throw a 4 inch swimbait on a 7+ foot rod thats not made specifically for swimbaits? i would think since they are so small, you could throw them on a stout fishing rod, maybe medium heavy. Do you have any ideas on this and do you ever use a non-swimbait rod for such a small swimbait application?

I am not a big believer that the rod has to be designed for a swim bait. Just make sure your rod and reel wiill support the weight and you should be fine.
I will toss some of my smaller (4") baits on my other rods from time to time.

Ditto. Just look at the weight and the rod rating. Most 4" swimbaits are only about a 1/2 oz.

It depends on how much the swimbait weights and the power rating of the rod, many 4" swimbaits don´t weight over 1 ounce, you can cast those with a H power rod, but there are others that weight between 1 and 1.5 ounces, closer to 1 ounce you can with a H power rod, closer to 1.5 ounces I wouldn´t do it unless your H power rod has a rating for up to 1.5 ounces.

I'm not a big fan of swimbaits but when I have used a big swimbait, I cut the jig off my flippin' stick and tied the swimbait onto my 7 1/2 ft Heavy action Falcon original series flippin' stick (I have two of them) that has 20 lb Big Game on the reel and it worked just fine. If you have a heavy action flippin' stick, try it.
