Find the utility called Add & Remove Programs in the control panel, when you open that utility, it will show you what programs you have and how much disk space they use. However, it could be just a sh_t load of files you have gathered, or maybe a ton of pictures you save on your disk. If you can use the explore feature of windows, it will tell you how many files you have in a folder and how much space that folder takes up. Downloading music can eat up space as well. Find yourself a friend if these suggestions seem difficult and have them assist you. Good Luck

Music takes up a lot of space, so does videos. Pictures can also take up some.

Absent that, go to system tools, and run the disk clean up feature. A lot of time a computer saves like temp internet files and those can take up some space, maybe not 60 gigs, but a good bit. Oh yea, porn - takes up a lot of space. Its your call if its worth it though.

It could be other games that you have fully downloaded on your pc. Those take up tons of space.

Keep in mind I wasn't passing judgement.

Seriously games would do it. I suppose a virus too, but I don't throw that word around lightly. What else could do it?

Default defrag hard drive

bender,
defrag your hard drive.
go to start, lower left, open
do u see open all programs, open it
go to accessories
click to system tools
go to disk cleanup. do that, follow the instructions.
after than is done, repeat process and go back to
defrag hard drive in system tools
defrag your computer.
defraggin will put your files in order, it will not delete anything. it wont hurt either.
you must have something awfully big on your hard drive to take up that much space. that many gigs used, one could run a used card lot on it. lol. and as mentioned, check your program files/add or delete.
programs as u see fit. and do u share your computer with anyone?
do they store stuff on the computer. this is very interesting.

You can also go to START and settings, find the start menu and see whats running..there may be some programs that run all the time that you don't even use or unaware that they are still on there...
On the ADD/REMOVE option on your control board, be carefull when deleting programs that you are unaware what they do..I clean mine out often , mostly just crap that attaches itself to programs that you want...line gambling, many dif. types of search bars etc, that can really slow you down , along with taking up space...
If you're unclear of what program you are looking at, you can copy the program name down, go back to START and FIND folders, type it in , and the results will list that program folder, how big it is, and when you installed it...chances are you'll see some huge files that are not needed, plus if you note the date when installed, you can compare if the pc came with it, or did the file get put on later.
Thats where I always look when I can't decide what to take off the ADD/
REMOVE area of the control board..
keep these in the recycle bin for a day or too, take note if the pc doesnt act right and that program is needed, you can restore it..

Default JackL

BENDER,
Open up the side of your tower and see if there is a slot for another hard drive. If ther is, you can add a 100 gig hard drive to your tower and make the one you have now a MASTER and the 100 gig the SLAVE unit. That will cost you about $70 or $80 bucks at Wally world. I found this out when my hard drive shot craps, so I installed two 100 gig hard drives, and added another memory chip to kick my RAM up to around 720. Talk about fast!!!

Do you copy DVD's? if you do it may be saving the files to a temp dir. 70 GB is a lot of space for applications and OS only. Is your drive split up into several logical drives this is a common problem, when you format the drive to not use the entire drive. Also older OS and motherboards have limitations on the HD size.
