My First Smallie
Ryan and I were fishing together at a local reservoir for crappie. we were usind white riverside grubs on 1/32 ounce jigheads reeling them in slow across the bottom. I was bringing mine in when I felt the rod load up. My rod was bending pretty good so I thought it was either a bass or a good crappie. Then I see a greenish brown fish jump and Ryan says "Its a smallie!" I said "Really?" not quite believing him. The fish took one last small jump and I swung him up on the bank. Sure enough it was a 10 inch smallie that went about 3/4 to 1 pound. It was my first smallie ever and I caught it on accident! I also caught a small bluegill and a small redear sunfish. Ryan caught 2 SMALL bass, a 8 inch crappie, 2 green sunfish, and 1 bluegill.

Smallies are the best in my book. Great fighters! Unfortunately, the area I live in is much more Largemouth friendly. Other than Platte Lake, but that's a hard lake to cover in my boat. Congrats! Go get some more!
