September Forum Tournament
OK, guys, looks like the consensus is for another tournament. Here are the rules from the last one:
Official Rules 1. Tournament will commence Sunday July 17th and terminate Saturday July 23rd 2. Eaxh partcipating angler may fish for 6 hours during and of the above dates. 3. All hours fished must be on the same day. (i.e. Cant fish 1 hour a day for 6 days) 4. Size Limit: 14 inches 5. Bag Limit: 5 Black bass 6. ALL FISH MUST BE RELEASED 7. A picture of you five biggest fish must be submitted. The photo must show the bass up against a measuring device for the length and girth. 8. Then the angler MUST use the calculating device that Reb was kind enoguh to find for the purposes of this event. 9. The biggest combined weight wins. 10. No snagging 11. No live bait 12. No netting. 13. Honors system applies to your number of hours fished. 14. Ponds, Lakes, and any moving water is acceptable. 15. Optional, but recommended: Have a little piece of paper on each picture with your username and "BassFishin.Com" written on it. I'd like to suggest a couple of changes-first, obviously, is the date. Since the fall seems to be a real busy time for everyone, not to mention the start of football season (WOO HOO!!!) lets let it run for the entire month of September rather than just a week. The other suggestion is a separate prize for big bass and heavy stringer. I'm sure we can get Kevin to sticky a rules thread, a weight thread and a general tournament discussion thread. If that is agreeable to everyone we are good to go, but if anybody has any other suggestions please post them. Just thought of something else-there were a few questions about this last time. Minimum size-12 or 14 inches?

sounds good for me but move the length limit down to like 12 or 13". And like the whole month of sep. Idea. And what about black sea bass does that count?

OK, guys-I stopped by Cabelas at lunch today and got a Lucky Craft pointer (Among a bunch of other stuff ) that I will donate as the big bass prize. the one thing we need to decide is minimum length-12, 13 as 454 suggests or 14 like JB. Doesn't matter to me. 12 would probably let in a lot more fish but the 14 makes it a little tougher. 13 is the meet in the middle.

Good point, Marty-spots would also be included. As far as the length is concerned I think we need to keep it the same for everyone-a lot less confusing that way.

12" Would allow more folks to bring fish to the weigh in so to speak. Plus I must say that if I fish the Ohio River for the tourney, it has a 12" minimum for a reason LOL. So yes if I fish that body of water I would think I am at a disadvantage. If I fish the coal pit, well I'm gonna win and everyone's gonna be jealous!

I think any black bass of the genus micropterus will be included, its just that largemouth and smallmouth are the most likely to make a dent in the standings.
My main suggestion though is that we be more strict with the photo's and the standings. We need a non-competitor to organize and post the results and pics. The last tourney was disshevled in the administration aspect.

I reckon that will be me, WTL. Last time we didn't really have anybody in charge so to speak, so this time I'll volunteer to run it.

My vote is to have it right in the middle of september. The 17th is a saturday, why dont we just have it then? Well it's not up to me though, so you veterans pick out a date. But you all know my vote.

Denny and me are going to fish a dif pond of my buddys(Tony), but get this,
we are going to try a f/n paddleboat..LOL..ought to be interesting. The place is grownup all around the lake but 4 places, and we are sure they've never seen the scum frog. We fished it sunday and had lots of keepers, no biguns yet tho, but should be more exciting than the pond we fish day in and day out... I am betting we can only carry a pole each on this paddle boat, but there isnt any other boat to use, dennys is to big, and the john boat I used belongs to the farmer..I guess we'll find out! |
