Banjo Minnow

Has anyone tried them ? If so what are your thoughts, just wondering .

A friend of mine uses them all the time and has good results. He gave me a few with the hooks but I can't seem to repeat his success. They look great in the water! Let us know how you do if you go that way...

I think what you need to do is get rid of ALL your worms, jigs, cranks, topwater and ANYTHING else you use to catch bass and convert over to the banjo minnow. Also look into getting the helicopter lure and the Roland Martins Rocket Rod! With these 3 things you will be set up to fish just like the pros!!!!!

They do catch fish, but you will tend to miss a lot and it's a pain in the arse to set those baits up, just get yourself some swimbaits you will be better off..if you want a cheaper alternative than the hollow bodied get some of these.. http://www.swimbait.com/hammer.htm

I fished with someone who had a couple banjo minnows. He got them from a friend or so he said. I think I outfished him 3 to 1 with a crankbait. Gave him a hard time about that but he did catch fish on them. And they do look good in the water. Very similar to fluke type baits.

As far as fishing gimmicks go, they have been around for an eternity for a reason - yes they will actually catch some fish.

I feel the need to pointout however that bass are not known for their selectivity, and just catching fish does not ascribe to a lure some great status. You can catch fish on a kitchen spoon. That doesnt mean you should market it as this great thing.

Although Johnson Silver minnows, as a more refined lure, have stood the test of time.

Johnson Silver Minnow was made at home from a teaspoon ...

I had a young lad who bought the big package of "AS SEEN ON TV" flying lures with one weeks worth of hard earned grass cutting money. He tied it on and caught a fish and proclaimed them the best lure ever.

Three hours later his dad had 15 in the boat on a tube and he was still looking for #2. Later he switched over to a tube and starting catching fish. At the end of the day he tried to sell me the deluxe package at half price.
