Default Ideas for Winner of the Contest

My dad and I had a keeper contest for black bass this year. I'd like to know some ideas for the winner (other than bragging rights) of next year's contest.

List all of the good (reasonable) ideas you can come up with!

You could try something like money for a new spool of line, a fishing hat, bass magazine subscription, etc.

Anything fun that doesnt cost too much...

Sometimeswhen we go fishing, my dad and I bet each other (depending on where we're fishing) $1-5 for certain things. (mostly $1or $2 though). The things we bet on are: 1. first fish 2. biggest fish 3. most fish. So you have a chance to walk away with $3 bucks if you're betting one dollar, and 6 is your betting 2 dollars. That's enough to buy a new fishing lure!

Try this, the loser has to sit and watch the winner fish for the first 45 minutes or so of your next outing... This includes tying knots for the winner, rigging rods, fetching a cold water, whatever the winner needs!

brushhog that is pretty dang funny, but also pretty cruel. if i am making a guy sit and watch me fish i don't think i would trust him to tie a good knot for me. and with the upstanding crowd i gather with (church deacons and such) it wouldn't happen, but a lesser guy might shake up my beer if i ask for one while he was watching me fish. i like the ugly hat idea if it is a trip by trip contest. if it is a year end total then i like the magazine subsrription idea.

Beat me to it C-Rig. There is NO WAY I would let someone tie a knot for me. The betting on each outing thing is a really good idea BigBassin.

How about the loser gets to choose what lure, the winner uses the next time out ? It will make you learn new lures, create a better arsenal of techniques, when you normally would always stick to your strongest presentation. P N J

that's a pretty good idea pnj. on a side note joolz, have you guys ever went out with only one type of bait in the boat? here on table rock they sometimes have jerkbait only tournaments. they check everyones boat to make sure the only baits you have are jerkbaits and you are forced to fish the whole event with nothing else. i am sure there are some guys who cheat but for a couple guys in the same boat it would be another great way to make yourself learn baits that you otherwise may never use for lack of confidence.

That IS a good idea PNJ. I had an idea sort of like that before... something having to do with the winner having something they don't necessarily want, but will only do them well in the long run. The whole one-bait thing is a cool tournament idea.

Joolz, to improve on PNJ's idea, Have the winner Pick what bait the loser has to use. that way, it seems more like the loser is the one getting the, for lack of better words, punishment. I'm sure you know what I mean. This would be a good Idea for My dad and me, since He refuses to learn the new techniques I want to.

Another idea is that you could both take turns picking out one bait at a time from your tackle box(s). Say each one of you gets five. Then you have to use your five baits all day.

All great idea's guys! I'll have to remember them for this summer!

I would not let me dad tie a knot for my either. Not because I don't trust him to tie the best knot he can, it's because he has some arthritis in his hands and can't tie a lot of knots. So he's tying a veyr simple knot while I'm tying palomar, trilene, and improved clinch knots. In fact, most of the time, I'll knots for him.
