warmouth
what exactly is a warmouth?are they related to bass?

They are a type of bream with basically a huge mouth. Everynow and then they get bunched up and you will catch several bass fishing. I think they are very similar, if not the same as the rock bass.

Warmouth ( Lepomis gulosus ) is one of the many species of the genera Lepomis. Other names: Redeye, Goggle-eye, Red-eyed Bream, Stump Knocker, Mudgapper, Mo-mouth, Morgan, Molly, Rock Bass, Open Mouth, Weed Bass, Wood Bass, Strawberry "perch", Mud Bass, Warmouth Bass. Bluegills belong to the same genera.

we have those red eye little monsters here in jersey,just doesn't show on the map.ours may be a little different,we call them rock bass.

they call 'em warmouth down here, I call them bass/bluegill mutts since they pretty much look like a mix between a bluegill and bass.
As far as their other names that Raul listed, I saw Stumpknocker made the list, many people refer to Crappie/Specks as stumpknockers as well.

the warmouths here have a blueish tent to the area under the jaw and the meat is much more yellow when ya fillet them

We have them here in michigan. We just call them dinner ive seen them get three times the size of gills and they fry up just as good. We catch them all the time bass fishin.

i catch those things in a pond i fish on spinnerbaits and crankbaits those things are aggressive they will go after anything even if it is bigger than them
