Why the hell dont they just get a tug boat and a grapple hook and pull it off up river?
What a waste.

for real, i agree with wtl here. the current ain't that bad from the video i see. seems that with the horsepower on boats today, one could throw a grapple hook and tow it in. simple. i am willing to bet there are some fellas there that would do it for the rig.

Just had a thought...
There would be some danger involved. Work with me. You throw a grapple hook to the pontoon and get hold. You start pulling. And in pulling it, you actually free the boat so it goes over the spillway. The weight of that boat could then pull in the tow you over. Need some more thought, but we can get around this. I know a chinook could do it. It would be like in Apocalypse now.

2 suggestions, long rope for time, sharp knife for busted effort.

Thar we go!! The video loaded!! Yes!
lol! That's pretty funny! What I don't see is why don't they get a tug boat, to throw a line with a big grappling with a big rod on it throw it on the boat, hook the end, and tug to the docks! Oh well!

Always get the brightest people on TV. The idiot who got the citation is proof that some people should not breed.

yeah.. this totally should be taken in by some people.. get two big ropes put in by a rich friend and a helocopter and a basket.. then drop the ropes on two boats ...with two boats pulling in a catty corner direction so when its tight the boat will be between the two.. then one cuts the rope and the opposite boat pulls it to shore..

In case you didn't read the rest of the story you might've missed the video of it going over the falls.....it stayed upright and from what I could tell the fall didn't really hurt it much.....cool.
