Trilene XL, because it works.
Spiderwire, "STEALTH" is a very good braid, don't really use any of the other stuff. Lizards

P-Line. Never lets me down and is tough as nails. Just have to replave a little more often. Try some you wont be let down. Better on casting reels than on spinning. When it comes to spinning I use braid or Trilene XL due to the limpness.

for spinning gear and such...Cajun Red Cast. I've never found a line that could beat it as far as toughness and castability and all of that.
For heavier mono..I use Big Game in 20lb green. |

They don't sell any line I like so I don't buy any at wal-mart. I'll spend $100.00 on line I do like and store it in a dry sun proof, dust free place. I got silver thread that I bought a large bulk spool of back in '96...almost out though...and it still kicks butt. Also down to my last 6 330 yd. spools of Berkley Tri-Max (clear...photochromic stunk.) Bought all of them back in '96 too when I heard they we're going to or had quit making it. Now it's P-line CX clear. Never have seen that at Wal-mart...so I run to cabella's in Kc,Ks once or twice a year and load up. They never have bulk spools though.

Ken
The line might be the same as far as the name but I gurantee you it aint the same in quality. They dont store it like it should be stored and what they do get is old line. Would you want to chance a tournament on old line. Try this buy a spool from a good tackle shop and buy one from wally world ......you'll see and feel the difference. |

i've never had a difference in quality between any of the 3 places I buy line from. None of them have been brittle, none have gotten abnormally high abrasions, nothing different at all. My Wal-Mart has their line stored just like the other stores do. I just think it gets a bum rap for being wal-mart. It might not be a "fishin shop" but as far as I've ever experienced...theres no difference in me buying something there and getting the same thing somewhere else.

bass tech put your line i a freezer belive it or not it works it keeps the dry rot down and keeps the line fresh. though ya might have to bust the spool loose with a screw driver. it will be fine...

I keep my line in a duffle bag. Don't have enough room in the freezer to store my line...lol. I just keep in the basement, no windows. Also...didn't want to sound arrogant bout wal-mart. If they did sell P-line cx and there was one close to me...then I would buy it there...but they don't and there ain't so I don't buy any, at Wal-mart.

Baitcaster...
Stren original.....it is good on abrasion reisstance and the memory is not a problem on baitcasters. Spinning... Using up some free trilene XL right now.....I like the low memory of it but it has terrible abrasion resistance.

remeber even with all the choices out on the market for line. that mono is just one choice braid is another floro or copoly. all have there place and specific usage. one thing i did learn from watching some pro's is they mostly have 1-2 rods spooled with braid.-not all-most run mono on cranks and top water baits. floro rules as a drop shot line. but alot of the pro's still use heavy mono for most of there pitching and flipping usage..
line is a tool pick the right tool for the right job. think like this a wrench will have a hard time driving nails-will it do it? yes but not as well as say a hammer.just make sure it is the right hammer. you don't drive railroad tie spikes with a tack hammer. to clarify you don't fish hydrilla or lilly pads with 4 pound mono. just like fishing out west in the ultra clear lakes. 6 pound floro would be the choice not 120 pound test braid.. zooker
