Owl off topwater
Pretty cool video. Lucky the owl was not too agressive.
The video contains some language..I would have likely said more http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YmF88...eature=related

I had a crane swoop down and pick up a zara spook once, my son kept saying "set the hook" I just kept a slack line and the crane dropped the lure once it was about 20 - 30 ft up. Made for a good laugh

I have had an osprey hit a swimbait, but he didn't stick around like this owl did

Wow!! That's so cool, looks like old wise owl ain't so wise! I've done that with pelicans and sea gulls more times then I care to recall! lol But I've never had them intently stare at me!
Exactly what I was thinking!

As the owner of a very intelligent bird, I am pretty sure that owl figured out what was going on when he saw the guy trying to remove the lure.
And I commend the young fisherman for taking such good care of the owl. That the owl chose to sit on the back of the boat for a while and catch his breath speaks volumes about how well he was treated.

Muskrat's are far nastier than the owl was........but I'd still use pliers to remove the hook. That owl's beak can do some damage!!!
And I've heard of seagull's ending up as chum on other boats..... |

That was really cool. The way the owl seemed to trust the guys and didnt seem affraid even after the lure was removed says plenty about how they treated the situation and the owls intellegence. My dad caught a pelican once down in Florida with pretty much exactly the same outcome.

I caught an owl several years ago night fishing with a musky jitterbug. It was a heck of a fight and thankfully the owl crash landed in some briar vines along the bank and jerked the hooks out of its feet, don't know how I would have gotten the hooks out otherwise! I've still got the lure, don't know if I've used it since though!

In the same situation, I have to admit, there would of had to been a better man in the boat than me. I probably would have tested the buoyancy factor of an owl. But I am glad they got the hook out.
