New PB!
My goal this year was to catch my first-ever 5 pound bass. Last year was the first time I ever caught a 4-pounder, so I figured my goal was a pretty lofty one. Well, mission accomplished! I went to a local lake tonight to make a few casts before nightfall. I made a dozen or so casts in a couple different spots using a dropshot and was just getting ready to switch to a frog when it happened. It wasn't much of a hit and not much of a fight either, sort of like dragging in dead weight. I was ecstatic to get it to shore, though, because there is a huge bed of weeds near shore and topwater mat to get it through. I am still giddy about the whole thing!
5lb 2oz, 19.5" length, 14.0" girth - 5" Yamasenko (Motoroil with lg red flakes) rigged wacky on a dropshot rig |

Great fish! I'm always pretty thrilled to catch a 5lber! It's always a blast and makes me feel all shaky for a half hour or so!
So, did ya, go Ike on her?

Awesome fish WB! Good to see you've set and reached a goal, now you can shoot for a 6 lber.

Yep, it's by far the best fishing summer I've ever had -- both in number of fish and size. I've topped my previous PB for both SM and LM four times (each) in the last four months. Hopefully it will continue into what we have left of fall up here in the northland! |
