Welcome to the boards!

For a boat of that size, you should be fine as long as your not battling Hurricane Katrina. I have nearly the same boat with a 45 lb. MotorGuide Wireless and she'll pull our rig around two to four miles per hour, depending on where and what your working with.

On windy days that motor will be working over time.

I think you should be fine with that TM. I'd try and find a bit stronger one, like 40lb. (sorry, that was the baitmonkey... last time I let him see the Keyboard...) Anyways, you could always look for a bigger one, but you should be fine with the 28lb.

By the way, welcome to the Nut-House!!

WELCOME FELLOW BAMA DUDE!!!! glad to see another fellow from the great state of the tide. i think you'll be fine with the troller ya got as long as you ain't on guntersville when the wind is blowing 35 mph. but ifn you are able, try to get as large as you can afford. i have a 20' cajun with a 56 lb troller, and i get worried at times. gonna get me a larger troller next year. and yes welcome to the nut house, home of the baitmonkey, and manor of the bass crazy fellows. where in bama are you by the way? maybe we can meet and fish sometime.

Moose, on windy days EVERYBODY'S TM works overtime. You fish the wind you burn battery.

I think that TM would work for a boat that small just fine.

Will it move the boat ? yes it will

It will take the TM some effort to do it and a brief period of time before you notice the boat moving but it will move the boat, the same goes as when slowing down the boat. But .... in the wind ? I think youŽll need a little bit more muscle than 28 lbs of thrust.

Got a 12 ft jonboat powered by a munster 6.5 HP, add to it the weight of the tackle, gas tank, battery, seats, my partner, me, the cooler ( now that I come think about it I suppose I need a bigger boat or outboard ) and my 30 lbs TM does a good job until ....... the wind begins to blow !

Should have purchased a bigger TM.
