line drop

Getting ready to head out with denny and tied on a reb special on, checked the line drop on my 1994 quantum speed reel after I tied on, and it quit workin! (the lure just drops fast, doesnt stop at all)

I'm still going to use it today and then tear it apart when i get home. I oiled it a tad and checked the brakes and drag work fine. Havent ever experienced this before, any ideas? its cranked all the way down right now, I'll thumb it all evening I guess.

When you refer to 'line drop', are you refering to the Tension Knob? If so, maybe check to see if the spring in there has not fallen out. I've had this happen to me and it will cause exactly this.
