Default Somebody had a bad day...

http://www.mdwfp.com/forums/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=63016

Don't know who this was, but it sure sucked for him. This happened on the Ross Barnett Reservoir, about 10 miles north of me.

I had this happen to Grandpa's El Camino on the Pearl River when I was about 16. It just filled the back of the cab, but luckily it stopped and some one was at the ramp with a winch. The ramp was covered in algea, and like the guy said, when I put it in park, it rolled back a hair and went to sliding.

we have some ramps around here that get really slick with algea, it's a wonder that stuff doesn't happen more often.

They said in the trhead below that that the insurance co totaled one of those nice new trucks, but I was thinking, why not just put a new engine in there? Wouldnt that and the fuel system be the main things compromised?

hahaha, seen that happen at smith and guntersville in the past. mostly when guys would try to launch a rig on a clay bank......not a good idea. it don't matter if ya got 4 wheel drive or not, if you start spining......it ain't gonna stop till you are in the water. i always launch at a very good concrete launch. if i see it is covered in algae, i will take the front of the boat and hand push it in the water.

I imagine one of the biggest thing to be ruined would be the electronics. We had a bunch of flood Mercedes up here that were salvaged from Katrina, and 99.99% of them had thousands of dollars in electronic control units that needed to be replaced. A lot of the units are stashed underneath seats, in footwells, etc, so even an inch or two of water actually in the car ruins them.
And when one control unit is $2800, that gets expensive real quick.

Sucks for that guy.... I pulled a kid out who thought his jeep could swim a pond. He drained a five gallon bucket full of water out of his engine. Sucker still runs though. That guy might have a shot.

The next time that I think that I'm having a bad day I'll have to remind myself of this poor Guy and then say to myself that it could be a whole lot worse.

And about those flooded vehicles; since Katrina I would be very wary of purchasing any vehicles from down in that region.

Turn on the dome light and leave a window down, then roll it up when the bass comes to check it out...

I would have unhooked the boat and gone fishin. No need to lock up or worry about parking- the truck will be right where I left it.

That happened down here in KY on Cave Run Lake a few years ago. Older Gentleman. Ended up having a Heart Attack and died. Those situations can turn sour real fast.
