Default Northerward Ho!

So, guys, it's pretty much official. Gonna be moving up to wisconsin some time this week. Probably gonna stay with family for a while, but housing is real cheap up there, so we'll find SOME place soon. Not a whole lot of jobs there. but that'll be out "base of operations" to find a job, because it's so cheap up there. We're gonna move start heading up there between today and Thursday. Depending if we have a place to stay here between then. I'll try to up date where we are as much I can through wifi at the motel.

Talk to you soon guys, and thanks for the prayers.

Boss, I wish you all the best up there. I like Wisconsin and I have spent quite a bit of time there over the years. To what part are you moving?

Also I've been working up north between Canada and Michigan the past 3 weeks and let me tell you now, IT'S FREEZING!!! You will be in for a schock when winter arrives but like Bama said look at it as a way to experience a lot of new things. And you should be able to catch some smallies!!!

Good luck Sammy. Make sure you pack LOTS of warm clothes. Wisconsin winters are a wee bit colder than those in Florida!

Hope the move goes well Sammy. We'll keep you and your family in our prayers. I have a feeling 'cold' is going to have a whole new meaning for you!

Thank you for the prayers and well wishes!

We're out of our house now, and staying with a friend of the family, we were planing to move out tomorrow, but things are not moving as fast as we thought they would be. Everything we were planing on bringing will not fit in the bed of out 1500 ram, so we're gonna have to pile things up a bit and toss a tarp along with a few straps over it.

We'll be out by headed up by Friday at the very latest. I'll pop in from time to time between now and then for up dates, and when ever I can on the road.

Bender, we're gonna be in the same small town my ma grew up, near Ladysmith! Biggers, and bama, I sure am looking forward to the snow and smallies. I'll probably have a month or two before the lake freezes over, that that's good! OH!! And Kory and Anthony, I'll FINALLY have use of a football jig!! So look forward to some orders from yours truly.

Sammy, I'd save my money for a power auger. It's hard to drill through 3' of ice with a hand powered one!

Also, what do you guys think?

Should we roll into town playing, alabama - song of the south, Skynyrd - swamp music, or summin else?

Hate to tell you Boss, going that far north into WI, you might fit in just fine with your southern roots. Chances are all you are going to get is country music if you even have a radio.... Lot's of hunting in the area, you may run into a wolf or two. Maybe a mt. lion. Good luck!

Good luck with the move. Just remember to give them all the same crap us Floridians put up with every year when they all head down here. Drive slow, turn in strange directions and complain how everything is better down South.

That's the Northwoods up there Sammy! It's beautiful country and I'm sure you will enjoy it, after you get used to freezing your behind off and shoveling snow every day!
I spent a fair amount of time up in Black River Falls and Neillsville but it has been years ago. As an Outdoorsman you will love that area. Get used to small, remote town living though.

I've never ice fished in that area but I'm sure there are all kinds of good fish around there like walleye, perch, gills, smelt, etc. If you are going to be out a lot in the winter up there the one thing you really need are good boots. My next pair (if I ever need them) will be Cabela's Alaska Pac boots. Save up and get these if you can. There's nothing worse to me than being outside with cold feet.

Good luck up there and post some pics if possible when you get there.

Left around 10:00 yesterday morning. Bugs got REAL bad around Orlando and we had to pull over and git 'em off. After lunch, we went about non stop untill Near Atlanta were we eat dinner, then drove for a hour or two more, and got a Motel. Everything is going good so far. The trip-a says we've gone 550 some miles.

But I'm really loving Georgia, really nice, love the clay.... it's nice to see something other then slash pines and flat.
