Default Trying out some new baits.

Went to Wyandotte for a couple hours today to try out the new luck e strike jerkbait and some hand poured worms that Kennethdaysale gave me. The wind was pretty strong but I got one on my second cast with the jerkbait.

Resized to 49% (was 1024 x 768) - Click image to enlarge

Lost a keeper on the next cast that pulled the split ring and the hook off? I guess I'm going to have to change the split rings out on that bait. Did my best to feel the little slider head and worm and managed my only smallmouth of the day.

Resized to 49% (was 1024 x 768) - Click image to enlarge

Switched back to the jerkbait and got one that would have been close to a keeper.

Resized to 49% (was 1024 x 768) - Click image to enlarge

Probably caught 8-10 mostly on the jerkbait but also caught two on an XR50.

I'm glad you got those worms so fast. It tickles me to see one of my little handpours stuck to a smallmouth.

I was surprised but excited to get them that fast also. The 20mph winds made fishing them tough but that little guy wanted it and wasn't letting go. Thanks again!

The design of those jerkbaits look allot like the MB Vision, how do they suspend?

The one I got suspends pretty well but it sits with the tail straight down occasionally. Also, the split rings suck, my 3rd cast I hooked a good keeper and when it dove it pulled my hook and split ring off the bait. You also have to reel or pull the bait down before you start twitching it or it will occasinally pop out of the water. On the plus side the paint job has held up well after several fish and the lip seems to be more durable than a regular megabass jerkbait. I had a fish jump and toss the bait back at the boat and banged off the trolling motor shaft and didn't seem to hurt it at all.

No but I'd like to. I'm always looking for new ideas. I've been pouring my own plastics for 3 years and its a lot of fun and way cheaper than store bought. I average about 6-8 cents per bait, have no limit on color or scent choices and can tweak their sink or float rate. Plus I have a machinist friend with access to state of the art cnc equip. I am impressed with Roboworms color control...that kind of precision is way out of my league...so far!
