Default Black Friday

I have noticed a "black Friday sale" mentioned on the boards. Can anyone tell me when this is and usually does TW and other large retailers take part in this sale.

Thanks

Black Friday used to be the friday after thanksgiving but in the last few years has morphed into any friday. The current percieved "poor economy" has prompted retailers to begin seasonal markdowns based more on fear than anything else. Oddly fishing tackle isn't as cutthroat as electronics, clothing, housewares and such.............yet

Just wait... at BPS this year you're going to see people jousting with fishing rods, while in the hunting department they'll be dueling with 9mm Sigs.

Black Friday can offer some really good deals. You just have to watch for them. Last year I got a Humminbird 797cSI (the small 5" screen) from Cabela's on an internet only Black Friday special deal. Unit retails for over a thousand - the special was $699.

And if anyone is interested, the new 798cSI that normally retails at $1199 at Cabels's - is on sale for $799. Good deal, you can't find them used at that price.

Thanks for reminding me! Last year I totally forgot to do my "wish list" for black friday and when it came I couldn't remember what I needed to order!

Black Friday through Cyber Monday can be a great time to get some good deals. Last year, I picked up $530 worth of rods for about $330.

Mike, You will need to check this forum every day, usually several times a day, between now and the new year. Several of us are active on a lot of forums and we usually will post about the sales we hear about here, after we take advantage of them ourselves. LOL. Last year, several started deep discounts and ran them for all of Nov. All the major retailers will have a black friday add for the day after thanksgiving sales, but many will have just as good or better sales pop up on any given day between now and after Christmas. You can google black friday sales to start previewing some of the sales now.

That doesn't surprise me. I was actually surprised they let it go all month last year. But it really but a nearly unknown retailer on the map.
