Great day on the water (video)
My brother and I recently fished a mountainous lake here in Virginia called Lake Moomaw. This lake can be really frusterating at times but we had an exceptional day catching 30 Lardgemouth 4 Smallmouth, and 4 Pickerel. I was able to capture some of the action by using the video feature on my point and shoot camera set up on the back of the boat. Enjoyhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eriVqsSJa1I

That's a great video. Nothing like front ending the other guy in the boat!

Nice video, but whoever is in the blue hat is gonna snap a rod handling them like that. Although rod companies can't prove you did it, highsticking like that would void any warranty your rods may have too. Flipping fish in the boat isn't good for rods, especially with your hand halfway up the rod. Also holding the fish and the rod up with your hand in the middle of the rod is a great way to break it.

Great video. I only live about 2 hours from Moomaw and never fished it. That lake is going on my bucket list now. Thanks for sharing.

Bigbassin, I have never broken a rod swinging a fish in the boat. I agree with you though, I'm probably asking for it, but on the other hand if it breaks swinging 2 and 3 pounders in it's not gonna hold up on a hook set with a bigger fish. High sticking is probably a habit I need to break, to be honest I don't even realize I'm doing some of this stuff until I watch footage of myself.

Swinging in a fish is one thing, I do that myself on occasion. It's more about doing it with your hand halfway up the blank. If you don't allow the whole blank to flex like it's supposed to (like it would on a hookset on a big fish), the rod is MUCH more likely to break. I especially noticed from 0:36-0:44. You can see the fish hanging from the tip, putting major stress right were your hand is and the other end of the rod is also in the air, more stress right where your hand is; that's a rod waiting to break at that point.
Please don't take this the wrong way, I'm just trying to help. Because if you're anything like me, you don't want to have to replace a perfectly good rod because of a dumb mistake. So keep catchin' those fish and at least work on keeping your hands where they should be - down by the reel. BB
