Default Had a pretty good tournament today.

Britney and I won our first tournament of the year today. It was a grind this afternoon when the temps got up towards 100 degrees, but we kept our heads down and fished our butts off. We had a limit pretty quick this morning on squarebill crankbaits and swim jigs, but I knew once the sun got up the shallow bite was going to dry up on us, and it did it in a hurry. After the sun got up and the fish moved out we started fishing ledges, humps, and channel swings with 10" Powerworms and were able to cull 3 or 4 times.

I am especially happy with our win because it will give us some much needed points in the AOY race. We were tied for second going into today and I don't know how todays points will shake out but I know we at least made up some ground, and possibly could be in first.

Congrats man! Those hard earned tournaments always make you feel good at the end of the day after working hard for the few bites you get.

John it was so hot that I was trying to get everyones fish weighed and released as fast as I could to keep as much stress off of them as I could. As a result we didn't have much of a chance to get good pictures. However one of the members did snap a picture of us right before we released the fish and he said he would send it to me. If he does then I will post it.

We went to a 4 fish limit because of the heat to help protect the fish. Our bag went 12lbs and second place was around 10.5lbs. 12lbs isn't a real big bag, even for 4 fish but considering how tough the bite is right now I was pleased with it, even before I knew that it was big enough to win. I told Britney yesterday morning that I figured 12lbs-13lbs would probably be in the hunt to win but it's hard to guess what will win a tournament with a 4 fish limit. I really had a feeling all day that were needed a 4lb-5lb fish to slam the door but we just never got that big bite. Going into weigh-in I thought we probably had a chance to win but certainly wasn't confident in it.

Fantastic, Kory!

As for the bag size...it's all relative. Nobody else topped yours, so you were the best angler under those conditions, obviously.

Thanks Bryce, and your exactly right about the bag size. It just shows how tough Grand is right now as far as getting big bites goes. That lake is consistantly giving up 20lb+ bags.
