Default Florida cold fronts.... how do you think the bass will react?

We got hit by a bit of a cool front yesterday. It got down to the high/mid 70's. It was really nice and I was hoping it would stay this way. But at night it went down to the low 60's. when I woke up in the morning it was a freezing 52* (the freezing part exaggerated to make you norther folk jealous ). On Friday it was 95*. So in a three day period, it's gone from 95*, to about 75*, to the 60's at night, and this morning, 58*. Right now (9:35) 57*. But it suppose to be a high of 71*.

So, how do you think the bass are gonna react with such a fast temperature drop? Do you think they'll slow down big time? And do you think that a jig with a pork trailer will work well? Or do you think the bass will become more active with the cooler temps? And do you think spinnerbait, cranks, top waters, and jerk baits will dominate?

And to y'all veteran Fl boys, what are gonna be doing this weekend when it come to fishing, like what are ya gonna be using.

Well... um.... thanks!

I just when fishing. My dad, older brother, and younger brothers, where all using cranks. I was using a texas craw color jig (gander mt. brand, 1/2 oz), and a June Bug color BPS craw trailer, forget what it's called though. They didn't get any on the cranks. But I caught two on a jig, one half pounder, and a pounder. One around a bridge, the other off a weed bank. Later on my dad started using a 10" anna. Nothing on that. My brother (older), stated using a spinnerbait. Nothing either. I keep with the jig. Started pitching a weedly bank (from shore.. go fiuger!?). Missed one there. Didn't catch anything from then on. But I the rattle on the jig broke off when I was skipping it under a pillion. So I switch two a swim jig 10 mins before we left.

Anyways, I can say, belive it or, that the fishing has HEATED up, with the cooler temps. If it was in the rueglar 90*, we would gone home skunked!

Oh I for got to mention my little bro caught a big taiaplia on a the rattle trap.

A couple days of "cold" weather isn't enough to drastically change the water temps.

I've faced this exact pattern before on Kissimmee, October cold front, about 150 miles north of you, maybe a little more.

I dont remember if yall had a boat.

Anyways, what I did was, the wind was constant and strong out of the north. They were also running water at the dam. I went to the kissimmee-hatchineha canal, found a section lined with kissimmee grass that dropped of quick into 10' water, and flipped for 10 hours straight with a 8" redshad worm. Tried to maximize my flips and pitches, let the worm drop through the first 10" inches of grass, bump it a few times, reel in and pitch again.

At the end of the day, it was getting very close to full dark, and a casted the lure and swam it back along the edge. All told I caught several quality 3s that day and I think a 4, which was good for me at the time and with the very chilly temps at 25+ mph wind, a really memorable day with me. In fact, I had a gun n roses song stuck in my head all day, even remember humming and pitching to the song....for all day long.

This lil cold front should kick the fishing into high gear. Even though it's gonna climb back up by Friday. Take advantage of it, I will be.

You guys do any Peacock Bass fishing? I heard the transplanted Peacocks are thriving down there.

Nope! Non this far up... not that I know of anyway. I've never caught one anyway, further down south there's plenty.

Well when I go fishing this weekend I'm going to throw a spro little john crankbait, flippin a gambler big stick with rattle, senko, culprit tasseltails, flappin shad, and trick worm. I also think this temperature drop should not affect the fishing too much since it's not going to make the water that cold in that period of time.

I would have been more worried if the front came with a cold rain more than I am if the air tempurature gets kind of low. I would think the bass wouldn't react to much if the weather goes back to where it has been in a couple days.
