Default Great Fun Today

Bought a panfishing video at a clearance. The guy showed a new tackle storage system comprised of clear plastic boxes for spinnerbaits, one for worms, etc....alll stored in one travel bag. Showed how it beat the old boxes with drawers, as lures get ruined and buried where you can't find one when you want it.
So, I went to a couple tackle stores and checked out the items and prices, and wouldn't you, know...Wally World had the best prices. I found a system that has 4 big boxes which you design youself, and they don't have the bag around them. just stay locked into a carryin device as a unit, yet each box slides right out when you need it! It was only $17...so I bought two !!
Then the fun started, I have all kinds of tackle from 20 years of trying to fish. Big Possum bellied boxes, little bait boxes, medium sized tackle boxes. I spent 5 hours sorting tackle!! Gosh I never knew I had so much tackle. Every possible worm, jig, fish look alike in plastic they make! The wife had to call me to supper, cause I was still out at the boat shifting tackle. Man what fun! Found some old friends too. Boy Howdy, Bass O Reno, Shannon Twin Spin, Pico Perch, Original Bomber with the metal ring in the tummy, Old Heddon Chuggers, WOW, What a blast.
Weather man say 15mp tops for wind tommorow, from south, Air Temp 70Degrees. Locals say white bass starting to show up in the creeks, and large mouth have been reported to straigten out hooks alot these last 3 weeks. Think I'll give it a go at Choke Canyon Hwy 99 bridge tommorrow.
With my luck, probably get skunked, but man just "being out there" That's what it's all about!

Be careful you don't get run over on Choke. Isn't the PAA tournament going on there this weekend?

Yep. I thought about heading down there Saturday but changed my mind when I saw Nitro's post.

Have fun, surfman!

Give us a report-I'll be heading down there in the next couple of weeks weather(wind) permitting.

Oh, and surfman-I do believe the bait monkey has found another victim. The bait monkey is invisible but sits on your shoulder whispering you need to buy more tackle. Sometimes it becomes a 500 lb gorilla.

And I have some of those same old friends from Pico, Heddon, Bomber, etc.

Thanks for all your encouragement. Things are getting slightly better on the cathcing end. Yesterday I got 2 whites in the frio that went over 2lbs.
They tasted great!
and then today I drove a mile to a private stocktank my friend only lets a few special folks fish. First 2 minutes got a big mouth that seemed pretty big. But I did not have a camera, and didn't want to free it untill I had a shot. So, I put it in the ice chest and drove home, picked up the camera, put fresh well water and ice. Then drove to freinds house, no scale! I went to hardware store...no scale! Went to our mom and pop outdoor store (only 1500 pop in our town) and bought a fishscale that went to 100 lbs. Well, I didn't max it out, but that Largemouth weighed exactly 8lbs! I weighed it several times and had others weigh it, and it still came up 8lbs. I would have thought 6anda half., But the scale kept saying 8 lbs! This is only the 2nd fish like that I caught. The last was at McQueeny Lake in 1975.
I'm still not a very good bass fisherman, but hey, it's a darn good start!

Lunk, that's Texan for farm pond.

Surfman, I love fishing those stock tanks. Best day I ever had came out of a big one west of Ft. Worth. I lost count at 27 largemouth on 27 consecutive casts, al on a Heddon Tiny Torpedo and all were between 1-2 pounds.

I meant I was going to Texas for the fishing. And I'm still going to Alaska, June.

Plamer/Wasilla area. We will be visiting Homer, Anchor River, Kenai Lake, Seward, and Nikiski, though.

Hopefully, he's headed to south Texas, it's still a little early in North Texas for sowbellies.
