Do you find that the 797 has a large enough screen?...I really would like the 997, but am having a hard time spending the 2,000 for it...the boss said she would buy me the 797 for my Bday in a few weeks or she would split the cost of the 997....hmmmm what to do??

I have a Lowrance LCX-15MT.It is only a 5.5" screen but I absolutely love it.I have the external GPS 3000 hockey puck type reciever and it works fine in my 14' aluminum boat but it might be a pain in the butt to install in a glass most likey requiring a hole drilled for the cable and three holes for the base mount whih sticks up about 4 " high from the surface its mounted on.The GPS is incredible I can locate sunken targets with ease and the screen shows bait and thermocline change and I have it set up to read my downrigger ball and lures when trolling for lake trout as well.By far its the best improvement I have made for my fishing ability in quite some time.Lowrance also has a tutorial web site as well.Ivan
