Are we gonna have to deal with these guys , or is their friendly neighbor china ( whom will end up with all the nuclear fallout from north korea being eliminated off the map ) gonna smack em around alittle and put em back in the safe zone ?

It's the classic story of bad guys hiding behind innocents so we can't hit them. All I had to hear about was Kim Jong Il's Joy Brigade, and I decided I'd like to see him dead.

I was hoping for a while that a conflict over there would be avoidable but it just seems as if they are trying to provoke us into a fight with them . at this point i think it is only a matter of time before we are forced into acting openly or covertly although i would prefer for it to be done covertly .

North Korea is begging for attention, so you can either give it to them or be smart and shut up. Either way they are very aware we would annihilate them in 2 minutes and that our media makes us a little jumpy when they saber rattle so why not rock the boat? See if we wont negotiate on sanctions? See what Mr Obama is made of?

Main thing is we need to keep a level head. Unless they make the serious mistake of selling nukes, we should stay away.

I think WTL is right about being smart and shutting up.

But I think attacking anyone with a nuclear weapon nowdays with so many countries having access to them would b disasterous (I mean more than would be expected by a nuclear bomb, lol) If we don't be careful, we could have a Nuclear World War on our hands.

I'm obviously not for nuking North Korea. I'm just not 100% against attacking them. Frankly, we'd probably be doing them a favor. Some accounts have around 2 million North Koreans per year literally starving to death while Kim Jong Il feeds his army. I know this is a percieved as a hackneyed neo-Con rationale and justification for war by some, ala freedom for the Iraqis, but this case is different in that their leader has actually threatened to nuke us, even though we're pretty sure he can't do it (at least for now).

How long do we wait? We sat back and waited for Iran to get a nuke, and now look at the crap sandwich we get to eat.

We keep creating more enemies when we preemptively attack people. It takes the moral high round from us, and America has to have the moral highground to conduct war.

Its a **** sandwich, but we have no other choice. I recommend listening to the south koreans. Most will tell you that the north koreans are full of it. I had a roomate from Seoul and I asked him about it once and he said he was surpised how much Americans though about north korea cause everyone he knew in south korea though they were just full of wind.

I agree with you on the moral high ground, WTL. However, it's easy to claim the high moral ground when you have the luxury of being able to wait to be hit first, i.e, no matter how devastating the attack on Pearl Harbor was, it didn't kill millions, like a suitcase nuke would if detonated on a busy Los Angeles street.

Ahhh hell...I don't know why I give two figs for preventing an apocalyptic future anyway. There's some really frightening stuff going down in Washington today and tomorrow. We're going to have a violent revolution in this country within the next 20 years. At least the guys on this board will know how to catch bass for food.

Man...I need some fishing...quick.
