AHHHHHHHHHHHHH..

...i'm excited..

checckk ittt outtt

ohhh yeahh.. can you say WATER LEGAL..

got the new hinges on the deck doors.. you can see here how crooked the cuts are on the back part.. i may re-do it.. its going to be carpeted so it wont look so bad..

notice anything different?

gotta lube up the cable some.. its kinda loud on the front hub.. and the pulleys need oiling.. idk why i didnt do it while i had them out..

whats left?
Short seat pedestals for riding/driving
1 new riding seat.. but ive got one to get by with for now..
deck pedestals
front floor finished.. i can get by with what i've got for now.. its just sitting in there.
box in the deck so the deck is a big box.. and i dont loose stuff out of it
lube steering cables
Seafoam the motor..
new plugs

we've got rain today through monday afternoon.. supposed to be upper 60's tuesday so hopefully were lakebound tuesday after school..
i'll get some plugs and seafoam between now and then so i can run it in the water and check the bottom and all at the same time.. then if she floats i'll start the running process.. then afterwards i'll fill the tank back up and go ride around a little.. and get back out and head home

about seafoam.. this is what they told me on i-boats..

Quote:
Decarb, take a can of seafoam put 3/4 of it in the gas tank, with only 1 gallon of premixed gas. put the rest in a spray bottle. start the engine, and let it come up to temperature. then remove plugs, and them some real good shot of seafoam into the cylinders, replace plugs, let sit 15 minutes. restart, and spray the rest of the seafoam into the carbs, so the the motor almost stalls, wait and repeat until the seafoam is gone.then take for a wide open spin. then put in new plugs, ad premixed gas to the tank, and take it for a wide open throttle spin. it is going to smoke like a house on fire, during this process.

what size can would that be?

also would that prevent me from having to take the carb off fully and cleaning it all? i'm probally going to do it anyway.. but would this still help?

A motor that has the age it does needs to be decarboned a little differently. Yes mix the tank at a ratio of 1 gal. premix and 1 can of Seafoam. The additional can of Seafoam put in a spray bottle. After the engine is hooked up on muffs and warmed up with the cover off......bring idle up slightly to around 1500 pms. Now start spraying into the carb just until she starts to die off. Let it clear up and start idling again then hit the carbs with the spray till it starts to stumble again. Do this 4 or 5 times waiting till starts idling again before you hit it with the spray bottle. Now after doing this about 5 times this times get aggresive with the spraying and actually let the aggresive spraying choke the motor down till it dies.DONT START IT AGAIN. Pull the plugs and spray the crap outta the cylinder with the spray bottle. Wait OVERNIGHT. Clean the plugs the following day and then install and fire it up again. This procedure normally will do it. If not repeat the whole procedure again. After the engine is idling fairly well take her to the lake with the Seafoam additive in the 1 gal tank and then run her at WOT. Take her back home....install new plugs and refill with fresh gas and oil mix with 2 ozs. of Seafoam. Run 2 ozs of Seafoam in every tank to keep it as healthy as it can. Doing it this way MAY .......no gurantees save you from having to rebuild carbs.

well our local ace didnt have seafoam.. but i didnt think about it later.. NAPA would have it.. [not open till tommorrow]

so i got Gumout carburator cleaner.. says it removes varnish..blah blah blah

use for 21 gallons of fuel..

i put all but about 1oz into the tank [had about 2 gals in it] and i'll use the rest to squirt the top end.. and hopefully it'll run alright after i run this through it tomorrow and i should be lake-bound tuesday

Also, i finished up the front floor. i made the pieces finally to fit the front half of the boat. I've got them watersealing now and tomorrow they'll be screwed down. Also i put the back wood piece on the deck and tomorrow i'll box in the sides so atleast its a big box.

also got the steering cables lubed up and grease in all the motor fittings.. all that good stufff

but i had to fix up something today.. the shifter cable wasnt going quite far enough for it to go into forward gear so i had to make an adapter plate to move the little turnbuckle thing back about a 1/2 inch or so. so i got a piece of steel and bored the holes in it and bracketed it back some and got it working perfectly

no pics but i'll have them tomorrow

tomorrow i plan to lay the floor, and get it running during the day and after dark i'll go back to the shed and finish up the deck boxing and then decide to put it in the boat for the lake or not

badnews and good news..

if you want the good news first you'll have to scroll down and read up..

Bad news:
no lake tomorrow.. we ran about a galon out of the gas today and it started to clear up but it kept spittin and we noticed gas comming out the "weep" hole on the fuel pump.. meaning the diaphrams bad.. and i need a fuel filter and a carb kit so we can rebuild it.. my dad is a pretty good wrencher and he said usually with that problem it wont have enough vaccum cause of the broken diaphram and the gas wont be gettin there so you have to run it with the choke on..so the diaphram may fix the spittin problem.

Good news:
Got the floor down, ran the boat outside today and the misty drizzle just ran off the wood
I've got to get those parts for the re-build.. my grandparents are goin to the doctor tomorrow and will be a couple miles away from the shop i called today that has them in stock.. so there getting the parts tomorrow.. i can put them on wedensday afternoon..
Sunday i'm going to take the boat to get the carb rebuilt [probally]. if i can get the parts on and stuff i'll try and run it in the lake friday and maybe it will only need a cleaning

hopefully everything will go as planned

Well crap.. i forgot to get a pic of the front floor thing..

oh well..on to the more important stuff.

Today i didnt have plans for much, just gettin the boat all ready for taking it over to the coach's house sunday morning and i'm not going to be here tomorrow.. so i'm charging a battery gettin the new fuel lines on and stuff like that.. and my dad comes over and says, whatcha dewin?

i was like..ehh just fuel lines..
"Ya wanna mess with the carb?.."
"yeah sure.."
"get a 7/16 wrench"

and off we went..

got the carb apart, re-built and back on..

then the fuel pump off and i was told there were a couple of springs that like to jump out at ya.. well my grandpa cut his arm pretty bad yesterday on a 9" angle grinder with no guard on it so he went to the doctor and had just got back and walked to the shop when my dad opened it up and out went a spring.. we didnt know it for an hour and i had to call the marine place to make sure.

So again with the RR i found a spring that fit from the parts bin so we put it in.. and my dad said this should work alright or take the place until we get one..

and we put it back on , took it out to where we've been running it and we pumped the gas up, saw some trash come up in the sediment bowl.. and kept on pumping and gas came out the intake.... [as it did a couple years ago after it sat for 10]

and my dad and i both at the same time said..crap..thats not supposed to happen..

so i walked around to the other side..and he said.. well ..hit it and we'll see

RRVROOMM it cranks better than any car i've ever seen..

after some running we've got the jets set pretty well, but the plugs are fouled out from all the gumout treatment.. I'll be out of town tomorrow so were letting it sit and sunday i'll put in the new gas with new oil.. and probally a 32:1 instead of 24:1 but i'm not sure yet..

Heres a Reving video and yes yall were right, i did kill a few birds

hopefully she'll do that from now on

i may be lake-bound sunday with my dad and grandpa if i can do some convincing

Ok bud first thing is on the oil to gas ratio that motor runs on a 50-1 ratio just like all the rest of the outnoards.
Second what you are seeing is the lower unit filling up with water and pushing the mixture of lower unit oil and water through a wee hole that should be only weeping WATER. Not water and lower unit oil. As I think I stated before you have some severly dried out seals in the lower unit. Right off the top of my head I am gonna say its the prop shaft seal but not being there I cant say for positive. A seal kit can be had for the lower unit and is relatively easy to install. If ya need some help locating one lemme know what year the ole motor is and I will hunt ya one down. Also I read you used Gumout, BE VERY CAREFUL using this. Its really not made for 2 stroke engines but it will work.

well they dont make a kit that old..

i've got to take the foot off.. and take it to the man. he can pressure test it and find the seal i need and he said he stocks most of the seals.. he can give me the bad one in the lower unit and my coach said we can put it on..

so i may go take it off.. is this all i have to take off? theres 4 bolts.. if i take that down is that all i have to take off? he said remove the "foot"
