Water temps dropped 4 degrees and the water was a little murky from the wind and the rain. So for following a cold front we did pretty good. Several LGMouth and a big cat too. The cat was about 18 lbs and gave up a good fight. Also a bunch of small yellow perch and this nice one.
Here is the final stick of fish.. Capt Mike

Crappie are done since they are up tight to structure and as dark as coal.. Yep it was a good run but not stellar this year. I look at it as some years are great and others a little less. Today was a beautiful day with light winds and even some fish managed to get hooked.

And blow it did today.. I did find some good looking water leeward and setup. However the ride searching for that spot did get us a bit wet. We got some nice fish and had triples on when the anchor pulled. Reset the anchor but the bite was not happening. So back to searching and getting wet. Then I marked some active cats and we set up on them. Bam big one hits and the fight is on..Tide died and wind kicked up two more notches and that was our day.. so we headed in.

Wind was the same as yesterday so I planned pretty much the same bite as yesterday, But someone forgot to notify the fish. Blue sky's and falling temps created a finicky bite on the cats. However the convict bass did like the conditions. The last pic I should just trash as it is poorly done. But it was a cat.. and after all it was are target species.
Tough day but great customers.. Capt Mike

Well the rain never did come down hard today and it was a nice cool pleasant day of fishing. Got out at dawn with a last minute charter. Fishing was not bad with a couple of doubles and some nice cats. One little convict bass also. Bait thieves where working hard to empty my live well.

Good, the meat tends to get a little rubbery when they get that size.

We had a very nice day today. Big cat came from channel edge on incoming with live bait. We had a few dinks and tide took it's time turning. Lots of sewage in the river on out going and the bite just shut down. So we moved 20 yards and bang fish on. Followed by six more and a whisker less striped cat.
Great crew Capt Mike

Got to the the ramp at 0 dark -30 this morning. Prepped boat for a windy day. Something catches my eye on the ramp. A snake with a elver (baby eel) in its mouth slithers up the ramp head way up in the air. Almost looked like a big cobra in the dark. Any way the eel is biting the head of the snake and the snake is getting pissed off. It tosses the eel up the ramp and tries to grab it by the head to slide it down. But instead he gets the tail and the eel wrap-es his slimy self around the snakes head. The struggle goes on for 20 minutes till the snakes releases the eel again and tries to constrict it. Again the eel wins. Last I saw of them the snake had the eel sideways and was swimming away.
Back to the fishing report..... We caught lots of nice blues and one flat head but most where under 20 lbs. Wind got the best of us so by noon it was over. Capt Mike

Again today at 0 dark -30 we headed out to strong winds. The tide was two feet lower than normal due the winds. We headed down river to get out of the wind and hopefully find a moving tide. We did find a steady outgoing that held up till 11am remarkably. We had doubles triples and sometimes four cats on at the same time. I worked hard at keeping the lines in the water and untangled. Nothing big but a good 40 plus four pound to 25 pound cats. We got blues, whites, flathead's, bullheads and channels. And one big carp and a striped whisker-less cat too.

Got my anchor set on the sweet spot and had an incoming tide. Rods never stopped going down.. Well till the tide stopped and the wind kicked up. Then it is try again in a couple more spots. Got two sets of doubles just before tide died. A little sunburnt but all in all we got lots of fish and one nice one.

5:am at dock for meet up with Bob to get some striped catfish on opening day. We worked some good spots but with no hits. Sure looked good too.
9:am back at dock for charter and off we go for monster catfish. Setup just like yesterday with hardley any wind get a real fish on. Tide swings around and back at them with some good action today. Capt Mike
