The Bleeding Bass
This bass was missing a portion of its tail when I caught it, by the large amounts of blood that was shed it appeared to be a fresh and a very clean cut at that. Anyways, at the time I was jiggin with straight 30lbs. Power Pro Braid, I've always wondered if somehow during the fight its tail could have been cut by the sharp braid line. I've heard a few of ya say that your catch had a bleeding tail, so I'm wondering if anyone else encounter anything like this. btw, it made it to the fryin pan.
Here are a few pics. of the Bleeding Bass, notice the missing portion of its tail. |

I've never heard of braid cutting the tail, but I can see it how it could happen.
Maybe the bass has fanned a bed an wore it off a few weeks before ya caught it? Or...maybe a deformity? I've been in tournaments where guys will cut a part of the tail off to mark what what theres in the live well, they all said it grew back in no time. woody, its either all that or a catfish down there thats carrying a blade....... |

looks like someone caught it before and tried to mark it for a tourny in the near future.

The injury could have come from a musky or pike as well
A few times while fishing I have seen or caught fish that were attacked by musky and big bass while the fish was being reeled in. |
