Default blessing or curse

I just found out that there is Mom and Pop tackle store within walking distance of my house that opened this past Saturday. I already have a love-hate relationship with the bait monkey.
On a good note, now I don't have to drive 20 miles to feed my addiction, I mean restock my needed gear.

bittersweet isnt it?....thats how i feel about the reel store i found near downtown dallas??....just driving around and saw all the abu, shimano, daiwa banners hanging on the building.......turns out to be a great little store that i visit often on lunch breaks.....
currently all abu garcia reels are 20% off until they sale....and daiwa is coming next week to do a seminar and a free raffle for a zillion combo......plus free burgers, lol
eat free,win a free combo,and buy a hs stx for $160

too bad ill lose the raffle....still cant afford the reel with the discount.....and with my luck, ill miss the free food....hahahahaha......(crying)

it's both man , I have the same deal within walking distance from my place but their selection isn't the greatest , the only plus i have found is the mom and pop places will clearance stuff that they aren't selling quicker than larger stores so as not to sit on the merchandise .

I know what you mean Cass. Since I have moved into my new apartment, I drive right past a BPS on the way to and from work. It is really hard not to stop everyday and just "browse". I finally did stop the other day to purchase a nice round wood rack to hold my rods. Even though I have a storage unit at the apartment complex, I want to keep my rod and reels in the apartment. That way they are just a few steps away if I want to tinker with them.

Well, they did not have too much of an inventory. They have a wall of zoom that wasn't bad and priced cheaper than most other places. Hardbaits are pretty much the same price as other spots.
The one nice thing is that they make their own hand poured plastics. He takes custom custom orders at the shop. I bought a pack of his pre defined colors to check them out.
I think it will be a good place for when I just need 1 or 2 things, but I will probably be heading to the bigger places for larger shopping trips.

I have a Gander Mountain that's only 20 minutes away. Where they put it acts as a buffer for me. It would really be 10 minutes away, but they put it relativly close to several very busy malls that I will find any excuse not to drive through. And I all but refuse to drive that area between Nov. 20th through Jan. 1st. I think I'd rather fight rush hour in New York city than that 5 miles of holiday mall traffic, and it's host of non-driving, inconciderate, cell phone talking and texting morons.
