Default owner, Gamakatsu, or Eagle claw?

after reading the hook sharpening thread, i was just wondering which gives best bang for buck. I use eagle claws on thelures i make, seem sharp to me... ive been thinking my hooks arent too sharp, and also im bad on my hooksets... i was wondernig if it was my hooks.

It depends on what your rigging up as to what brand I use.I like Daiichi, or Gamakatsu treble hooks, Eagle claw HP hook for short tube baits, 3/0 Mustad ultralock hooks for 3.5-5" tubes.1/0 Daiichi lightwire hook for Yamamoto tubes. Owner riggin hooks for sweet beaver type baits,1/0-3/0 Owner hooks for worms, lizards, french fry baits, unless I am fishing braid, then I go with a Owner flippin hook, or a Gamakatsu EWG superline hook. Then there are the 2/0 circle hooks, either, Daiichi, or Gamakatsu, Matsuo for wacky rigged senko baits. i was using owner but switch to gammys, anymore the hooks are all sharper than before, but some are extra sharp, plus they have their own characteristics, like a spear headed barb, or a aberdine bend, etc

well some saw the gammy hooks have cutting edges that penetrate and cut the fish's mouth. that makes the hole bigger, and more likely to throw the hook. any comments on this?

i like gamakatsus ive only used owner once it was a real heavy wire hook but i loved its hook setting power i often use eagle claws aswell i dont really have a problem with their sharpness i dont really miss many fish because of the hook most the fish i lose are just too small to get the bait in their mouths

Horsechit. The Owners might but not the Gammys. Now having said that, I like the Mustads the best with the Gammy superline series coming next. The regular Gammys are too dang flimsy.

Most of mine are eagle claw. Guess some traditions are hard to break. Have tried gammies and mustad. Was just given some owner hooks by a guy, not sure on the size- said they work well w/ the horny toad. Got a wider gap and penetrate through the body better. Will probably try them Wed.

The owners are probably the sharpest hooks (the cutting edge ones ) Just ask my finners. You cant resparpen them or I cant anyways. The needle point hooks are great. I like the rig'n'hook.

Never liked Gammies or Eagle Claw at all. Used Owner for awhile, then switched to Daiichi and never looked back.No more missed or lost fish.

Try them all, and decide for yourself.
