Default Quantum Energy PT and Saltwater Engineering

Hey all. I ordered a Quantum Energy PT freshwater reel ($190) and got the saltwater version ($250). How are these built differently, and why is one $60 more than the other? Wondering if I should return it.

Thanks

Probably due to the salt water corroding the components of the regular reels. Don't think you have much salt water around Wis. though. A. G. Revo's come in a inshore model designed for brackish type water. They're $60 more too.
I'd call them and see what they want to do. Offer to return it at their cost and see what they say.

So in my freshwater lakes in Wisconsin, it won't offer any more performance than the freshwater Energy PT?

probably a little more duability. seeing as how the internal parts are designed to withstand salt-water.

Unless it has a different drag system, has better components (bearings), or the amount of line per revolution is different. The only thing I can think of is that it may last longer than the fresh water reel.

it has a differant drag set up than normal..the gears are stainless laser cut jobs.. it is one of the toughest reels you can buy. they are designed to handle heavier mono and braided line. the braking sytem is differant and built to with stand salt water.. a plus is you have the hybrid bearings -very sweet- i would NOT return it but use it they would make a sweet flippin reel. or a musky reel that wont quite..

i own a quatum cabo and a penn sargus both very good reels as for lasting ?? i only have had the cabo a year and the penn is 6 months old..

You could send it to me, I'd be sure to give it a good workout rotfl. Truly it is a better reel, as stated. Keep it, and use it. I you eve do go to the salt life, then it will come in real handy.

If you were not charged for it and some dumb arse in their warehouse pulled the wrong reel, then it's your gain. It'd be like telling a teacher in school that they didn't mark one of your wrong answers, then insisting that they change it. It just doesn't make sense.

No, I'm the dum arse who couldnt keep his mouth shut. I called them and told them to ship out the freshwater reel. I would have a hard time getting a valid receipt and I want the rebate money. Plus I like both of the reels, so it's not a big deal. Thanks for the info anyways, guys.
