Default Best/Worst tournament in a while....

This past weekend I fished our club tournament on lake "X". It's my home lake about 5 miles from where I live. I've only been on it three times this year and haven't had much luck. I was traveling all last week so no time to pre-fish. I had a couple of spots that I usually fish and had one of the other club members fish one for me to see if it's still holding fish -nope (I fished it the week before for 10 minutes before a thunder storm blew through and no fish either). So, I start out in spot 2 where I've caught fish before. No luck the first 2 hours. Well, it's off to my second spot that didn't have fish.... he was wrong! It actually was pretty well loaded. I had my 3 fish in about an hour with my big fish and my small fish on back-to-back casts! I was feeling pretty good at the time - limit and 4 hours to fish with two toads. Then, it went down hill.... Moved to another spot I know of, 1st cast hit and something takes my worm. Move down a little further and switch baits, make a nice side arm cast and all HECK breaks out! 3 rods over the side of the boat: 1) Pflueger President, NEW PT SuperLite. 2) Curado E7, BPS extreme rod. 3) Pflueger President, BPS extreme rod. OH POOP!! I did manage to get #2 and #3 before the 10' of water took them!! Well, after about an hour of pulling up weeds what else could go wrong??? Well, went to turn around with the TM, and nothing!! I broke the steering cable! OH POOP!!! So not only did I spend an hour trying to find a rod, I now have a broken TM!!! You ask what else could go wrong?? I ended up giving up on the rod and went back and tried to get into the wind and drift. Put new hooks on my trap and went to make a cast, YUP, line broke new hooks gone, trap gone!!

OH and I ended up winning the TX with 7.19 pounds and had big fish at 3 pounds even!! I didn't really fish the last 3 hours! And yes, I ordered another rod today.....

Boy o boy what a day! Congrats on the win, and I hope your check was enough to cover a new combo. Just curious, which Superlite rod did you end up losing?

When I have a bad day it looks like a dog gone train wreck. So considering you still won the tourney I have to say that you made the most out of a bad situation.

Loading the gun and handing it to you. LOL Just kiddin, don't pull that trigger! That can only be described as a Grrr#$@&^%*# kind of day. I lost a Revo SX and a BPS Pro Qualifier rod combo overboard once from a wreckless waterskier boat that side swiped me and almost flipped my boat. I can sympathise.

The cost of winning. My bad days never have a good side to them. Congrats on the win.

Sounds like you should hold on to that loaded gun and throw some lead at the water skiers lol.

hahahahaha, I did!!! Made a hard cast with a jig at the boat as it approached but the driver saw it and viered away before getting hit. Also, when fishing off the pier at Michigan City on lake Michigan, there are boats on occation who pass by way to close and fast causing waves to crash on the walkway. When that happens, you'll seen spoons apleanty fromanglers up and down the pier winging for that boat.

And we still continue to return to the lake. We are just glutton for punishment. Congrats on the win though.
