Buying a Grill
Hey guys, any suggestions on what I should buy for a new grill...I don't need anything real big just would like it to cook evenly and last more than just a few years. I really would like to buy a Weber, but they are a little out of my range. I'm looking to spend around 250..I know it's not much, but it's just me and my wife and occasionally a few friends so I really don't need a monster grill.

Jason, I was in your shoes two years ago and spent weeks looking, and studying grills. I to couldn't afford a Webber. But after all that looking at grills, I opted to buy a Sears Grill. It had feature that some of the more expensive brands had and in many ways was built smarter and stronger. Before you buy a grill, look at the back of the grill. You'll be suprised what you don't see from the front. Pay attension to how the lid is conected to the body. And look for a model with a slide out try under the burners. Saves a LOT of hassle in cleanup! So far my Sears has never given me any trouble and accessories are easy to obtain. Also, Sears has a service where they will send a grill guy to your house should you have any trouble. I had trouble getting the rotisseree burner to ignite. The grill guy came out and started it right away and showed me what I needed to do. Didnt cost me a dime for his service.

You never mentioned what type of grill, but I'm guessing propane, for that price?
I paid 180 for a Brinkmann a few years back, and it's been a great grill, although I did just have to order new cooking grids for it. My next grill will be an infrared grill. The one I've been looking at is a Charm Glow I think? $400 for the bigger model but $269 for the smaller, which is flirtin with your price range. Their claims are more even heatin to the cooking surfaces and majorly reduced flare-ups. Bama swears by em. Might wanna check em out

i use both charcoal and gas.the old gas job is a weber i think..the charcoal one is a char-grill it works the best for charcoal grilling.. if i am doing somthing fast dogs/burgers/veggies i do it on the gas job. if i am knockin out something time consuming i use the charcoal..
the char grill was on sale at $100 got it at lowes..it is big and comfy.. you all notice from all my bbq threads i don't cook for 5-8 poeple just 3-4 of us here..yep it is a big grill 18x30 but that size leaves you with alot of room to perfect the art of scotched meat.. charcoal is the more relaxed/slower-more challenging- method.. take my recent bbq steak thread i don't say it but the steaks cooked all told 35 mintues-this aint a joke-nice and slow on a 275 to 300 degree grill. after being seared.sure i could have knocked them out in 10 mintues on the gas job but they would not be no where as tender and juicy.. zooker

Yes my fellow bass fisherman (I can say that now BTW) it is gas and charcoal. It is only 299 at Lowes and was a gift my mother in law and my kids.
The side burner fits a charcoal chimmney perfect to light your charcoal fast. About four minutes and you ready to dump coals. Both sides have heavy duty grates with baked enamel. A smoker box is available as well for it. And the cover that came with it has velcro expansion for the smoker box as well. I am very happy with it. My two old grills have been trashed. One was a char-broil charcoal grill simular to my new one and it lasted 10 years and could have lasted a few more. Capt Mike
