Default Line color question

One of my Christmas gifts was 2 spools of Stren line. I generally only use clear line but both of these spools are the clear blue. I have been told that the clear blue should really only be used at night as it is easier to see after dark. I even have friends who have reels spooled with the clear blue color strictly for night use. Feedback appreciated.

I use the clear blue / fluorescent at night only....teamed up with some sort of black light.

That is the only color of Stren mono that I typically use (for topwater)

While flourescent line will show up really well under a blacklight at night, it will be fine to use during the day as well.

I use the clear blue for my topwater. It hasn't caused any issues for me, and I like being able to quickly identify the right rod.

Just give them a try. It couldn't hurt. I had that stren in 6# test and it worked well.

Stren used to be all I used for mono. The clear blue works fine in the day. I never had any problems with fish seeing it. It is also a good choice for night fishing.

For some reason I seem to get far more strikes when using a green tint line. I"m going to guess it has something to do with the water clarity around here. For some reason, my stike ratio in open water seems to drop when using a clear line. Your right, it doesn't make sense. But there is a lot of things in this game of bass fishin that doesn't make sense, haha

The clear blue isn't a problem. Typically, I prefer lo-vis green with clear coming in 2nd.

Get a copy of the latest BASSMaster magazine. There's are two good articles in there on fishing lines and one of them deals with line color.

No worries IMO-I use clear and green. No biggie as far as I'm concerned.

I use clear blue Stren a lot.. It makes those light soft plastic bites more visible. If you're worried about fish seeing your line (they're not) you can add a leader of clear mono or fluorocarbon.
