Default Curado 200E7 vs. Curado 50E ???

Has anyone used both of these reels? ..... I am looking pretty serious at getting a new Curado for throwing crankbaits (1/2 oz or less) .... primarily for shallow cranking under 10 feet..... may also use the reel for trying to learn how to pitch and flip better.....

Which model should I get serious about????

I have both, recently got the E50. Wow fished a tx in high winds and it required throwing a swim bait into the wind. Rock solid, had 10 lb maxima floro on a Shimano Cumara rod. Bigtime smooth and very much palmable because of its size. Reel may be impossible to birds nest.

The 50 is basically a finesse reel. It doesn't have much line capacity as it's meant for use with light lines for light baits. I would get the E5 for crankbaits.

Would you prefer an E5 vs. E7 for pitching / flipping situations?

I have both reels, the 50E is not the best choice for throwing shallow cranks and pitching and flipping. Like Pro Reel already said, it is basically a finesse reel, and is best when fished with light line. For your shallow cranks you will probably want to throw some mono line at around 15lb test or so. For pitching and flipping I would go with the faster reel, get the bait out, and get it back in quickly and hit the next spot, again you will be in allot of cover and may want to use a flouro line around 15 lb test. There is a less expensive alternative in the Shimano line. The Citica E can be found for around a 100 dollars and there is not a huge difference in performance as long as you are throwing baits that are heavier than a 1/4 oz. Just some things to think about.

In the Curado E line, I would get an E 5 for cranks and slow rolling spinner baits. I would get the E 7 for everything else. A lot of guys get a Citica or 2 to fill in the need/want for a medium speed reel.
