Kayak Bass
I took my new tarpon to the lake today. I had fished it a couple times in this really bas lake nearby which is small, but today i took it to my favorite bass lake. Its a big lake so paddling got tough after a while, especially since i had to go halfway across the lake to get to my favorite spot. Although once i did it was worth it at least. Up until today i had caught i hand sized crappie and half dollar size green sunfish on the fly rod in the kayak, but today i actually caught 7 fish. 6 bass and a musky. The musky was small, maybe mid twenties inches (24 or so) but it was nice and fat so it was still fun. I didnt get a pic because it was bouncing around in the kayak and it ended up just unhooking itself, which i didn't really mind(teeth), and jumping out of the kayak. anyway i caught my first one in the weeds on a wacky rig. It towed me, which was a first, thats pretty cool. I got a little worried when it dove under the kayak and started to run under there. What do you do when they do that? anyway i got it close and bellied it in.
then i caught this one. smaller but still fought good. anyway that was nice for my first real trip i am excited to get back soon. |

Looks like you had a good day. I would have loved to see ya fighting that muskie, that would have been heart thumping.

Yeah the musky was pretty cool especially the way it hit. When I fish a wacky rig I just throw it out and let it sit for 10-15 seconds. If nothing hits, then I buzz it back in as fast as I can. That's when he crushed it, when it was skipping across the water back to me.
