Default Decent Day....

Caught 7 bass, all on a Gray Ghost X-Rap (plus a wannabe crappie), including the nice one in the picture.

And now I am on my way to my Mom's house, because she wants to make me dinner for my birthday. Awwwwwww, you gotta love it.

Bryce, could you please elaborate your report with a little more detail: such as water temps, water depth, type of structure, did you pick up on a pattern, what sort of presentation worked best for you.

btw That spot looks familiar.

Thanks in advance.

It was on Blue Grass Pit just outside of Evansville (saving gas money for Dale ).

Only had a couple hours, so I put my sonar to the test. I had seen huge schools of baitfish being herded by big fish (more like fall fishing to be honest) two weeks ago, and I hoped it would still be continuing. It definitely was.

The water temperature was a balmy 68 degrees, over 70 in the shallow bays. However, I didn't see any signs of spawning....like I said, it seemed like more of a Fall pattern. Weird.

Blue Grass is a former coal pit, so there's zero cover, and not a lot of natural structure. Some good ledges left from the shovels, but nothing on them to speak of. All of the fish were in 25+ feet of water. I caught my fish at about 10-12 feet.

The Strike King Sexy Shad deep crank I had a little luck with before was invisible today. They wanted X-Raps.

Missed a lot of bites too....some of mine were hooked outside the mouth, kind of like they decided a little too late it wasn't exactly the right bait. Funniest thing was, the hardest bite I got all day was a 7-inch over-achiever. I thought I had a lunker for just a second. He had inhaled the lure, such that he unfortunately become heron food shortly thereafter.

Straight retrieve on the X-Raps...I saw fish jumping, so I figured it was not jerkbait time.

Looks nice a good day Bryce. First fishing, then dinner. It must've been a good day!

Good looking fish, NoFear! Lately I would just be happy with the one in the picture. Didn't have much luck at all this weekend, glad you fared much better!!

Way to go Bryce. Not a bad couple hours at all!!! Those X Raps really catch fish. How are ya liking that new depth finder? And didn't you put in a new rod storage compartment?

Well, besides that huge fish finder adding like what, 250lbs to the boat, and makin' it kinda lopsided, I'm sure he likes it.

If you don't Bryce, you know I'll take it off your hands cheap so you don't have to deal with the hassles of ebay, craigslist, or counting lots of money.

Yes, I do love the X-Raps....just funny I can not seem to ever get the right conditions to use them successfully as a jerkbait. And yes, I am hoping to finish up my rod locker stuff next weekend, now that I am done with Exam hell. Unfortunately, I got sick yesterday after fishing and I am still sick as I write this. Not sure if it's allergies or what, with all of the pollen floating around, but my head is about to pop, and the coughing is not doing my back injury much good. What 24 hours can do for your mood. LOL <cough>

Even worse, Anthony, since the fish finder is on the same side as the captain. Make you a deal, Anthony....it's yours for 3 grand, no questions asked.

I still am having trouble getting it to take snapshots...it says it is failing when it tries to save the .png file. Maybe the memory card I bought is bad...I hope to post something soon.
