Default Temple Fork Outfitters

Has anyone tried any of these rods. They are reasonably priced to have a Loomis name. Just wondering.

Don't be fooled by the Gary Loomis name. All Gary did was advising about powers and actions and such. I think there's a lot better choices out there for the money.

My neighbor bought one and I used it two weeks ago. They are decent rods, but I do think that they should be in the $79 range rather than the $99 range.

They are decent, but i'd rather opt for a vendetta or veritas

I casted a 12wt TFO flyrod about 10 days ago. Nice rod, shot the line right through the guides. Not much I can compare it to though.

I have use their fly rods for Steelhead and they are strong, quality rods. I cannot vouch for their sensitivity though.....

WTL- 12wt. !?!?! Tarpon per-chance?

TFO-Garry Loomis and Trey Kistler also developed the Kistler Z-Bone. Z-Bone has a neat online feature where you can custom build your rod, as long as the 500 dollar price tag don't scare you off.

Yeah, 12.

Tarpon, Bull Redfish, ect. It cast well, same mechanics as a 5 wt, amazing how the heavy line shot though. The strangest part for me was the sinking line, you couldnt snap the line off the surface.

TFO had nothing to do with the making of the Z-bones. That was between Gary Loomis's North Fork Composites and Trey Kistler.

Didn't catch any. I was saying those are the fish my fiend bought the rod for, the weather conditions apparently werent correct that day so I just practiced casting basically.

Its hard to imagine fighting a 30 pound redfish on a flyrod.

For what it is worth, I just bought a TFO NXT 4/5 wt the other day at BPS.

It casts beautifully in the backyard, I will do a report on it later when I get some fish with it. I like their warranty, you can avoid breaking bass rods, but fly rods, being longer and lighter do often break - nothing better than a lifetime warranty.

It occurs to me this thread was originally about the bass rods, and I have no knowledge about them really. The Abu verdicts look pretty good right now, and the custom route is also a good way to go, so I probably will never buy a TFO casting rod. TFO seems to really be a flyrod company anyway.
