Default Isn't this a Walleye?

I caught this rascal yesterday afternoon on a rootbeer and chartruese Bandit 100.....This lake is not known to have Walleye but they have stocked Saugeye, so I'm assuming a few of these guys slipped thru and now inhabit the lake....having never caught Walleye before I thought I'd make sure thats what this guy is.

Looks like a saugeye to me. But I'm no expert.

Definitely a saugeye....you can see the hint of black blotches. A walleye wouldn't have them at all, and on a sauger, they'd be more pronounced.

Either way....delicious.

NO that's a walleye. Notice the white blotch on the bottom of the tail.

Pretty sure it's walleye.

Never mind, didn't notice how pronounced the black blotches were. It's a sauger yeah. lol. All though it still makes me wonder with the white on the tail.

From my research so far, it seems both Walleye and Saugeye have the white tip on the bottom of the tail.

they do, but a purebred walleye will never be as dark as that fish is, hes nearly black, 66 if they stock those regularly, might give you some new ideas to colors to use on spinnerbaits, swimbaits, etc. something to think about

It's a Saugeye (hybrid cross between a sauger and walleye).

Being related smaller fish resemble each other a lot,one is a saugeye the latter smaller one is a walleye I believe.
All three walleye, saugeye, sauger are extremely good to eat, with transparent flesh and no fish smell when cooking.
While the sauger has no white tail marking, the hybred (occurs naturally as well as man made)may at times as well, and like the hybred white bass its offspring can be a striper or a white either one.Or in their case walleye or sauger.
Female walleye and a male sauger make a saugeye.
Any of them make a good mess.

Walleye are truly cursed by being delicious. The only catch and release I will be doing of Walleye is into Lake Crisco.

That's cool that 2 fish that are different can be so closely related they can make hybrid species... Never been walleye fishing before, plan to this summer!

Don't know if this helps or not, but this is a walleye I caught a year or so ago

The first picture is most likely a Saugeye. It is much too dark to be a walleye.

The second fish in the second pic is weird. it almost looks albino. cause you can see a light yellow pattern where the black should be.

The albino thought crossed my mind also, but not being familier with the species I didn't know what to expect.
