Default Glad to say...

The Bruiser and my buddy Harlan put a bashin' on the bass today. We started out about 9 and fished until 1 and boated 55-60 bass, with 31 keepers (I will post pics later for the regular roasting from the CnR buffs). I picked up a worm a couple of times, but all of my fish came on a red shad Bass Assassin 5" jerk bait and the Yo-Zooker (A Yo-zuri crank I got from Zook) in like a chrome/gold-green back). We patterned the fish on the edge of the pads with the BA in 4-6 FOW. And we just moseyed out with them into deeper water as the day progressed where they stayed suspended at about 6-8'. I caught the biggest, I would say a bump over 3 in the pads with a explosive blowup. But it took a round 2 to get the hook up. But the best one of the day was when I chunked the BA in an alley in the pads. I gave it a couple of twitches and I saw the back of the fish just break the surface of the water, she remained still, but it looked like a pit bull raising his hair before pouncing. I just held my breath wanting to snatch and she nailed it. It was an awesome day to say the least. Now I am a die hard Zoom man, but I have one tip of advice. If you can pick a Bass Assassin over a fluke, do it. IMO they just down right out fish the fluke hands down.

Can't wait to see some lily pads around here Bubba! Shouldn't be long now. I've seen some straining to break the surface!

Bama, I would rather go to jail on a 187 charge than messing with one of those gopher turtles. They are endangered. My brother-in-law works for an oilfield cement company and he had to go to a 1 day course pertaining to them. I asked what they taught him and he said when they see them on a road to a well site, they have to stop the convoy and pull over. And they are not allowed to advance until the turtle has been off the road for 30 minutes. I asked him if he carried some short fence in the truck.

I prefer the soft (or flat) shell turtles. You know the ones with the long necks that can destroy a private bass pond if they are not controlled. And when I say controlled, I mean killed and eaten or left for fish food.

well thank you for the info bubba. didn't know they were on the endangered list. i'll try to look out for them now for real.

f&g, i had a great-great uncle, he would cook snapping turtles. for real, cook em in their own shell. don't know WHAT he did, but it was good.
