Default Yesterday's trip

Me and a buddy made a trip yesterday morning to Puckett, MS. We started about an hour before daylight and could hear what sounded like buckets of cement flopping on the water, but couldn't get any takers of that status. I did manage 2 on a blk/blue senko before the sun came up at 6. I switched to a buzz bait and caught one running bream on the bank and got a nice blow up by an isolated log in the middle. She came up and busted the bait before it hit the water and I never got a set on her. I tried the paycheck frog I got from BB144 finally and had one good blow up. My buddy pitched a jig in behind me and got took, but wrapped him in the pads before he could turn her head. We continued to pick off sparse fish the rest of the day. He introduced me to the Carolina keeper and I realy like it. It is a plastic sleeve with a slit cut in it. It never slipped with a 1/2 oz tungsten on muscled up chunks for a few hours. I tipped my C-rig with a green pumpkin candy baby brush hog.

I got tired of the slow dragging and switched to a crank. I hesitated because I wanted to throw the LC Pointer because I was afraid I would loose it in the wood work. I finally said, piss on it, I bought it to fish, if I loose oh well. I didn't buy it to look pretty in my box. I was fishing it pretty fast with hard jerks. My buddy told me I was fishing too fast and about that time, I had a hit and landed a #2.5. I asked him how he liked that for fast. I caught another, lost one, and then caught another a little over 2. I caught 1 or 2 more on the C-Rig and we decided to call it a day.

I have always been a throw and crank type with cranks and light twitches to the jerk baits. But this year I started fishing them real aggressive and I have been proving people wrong several times over with the fishing too fast statement. Sometimes you have to try something different though. Now if they will think outside of the box and quit thinking it is a fluke (Mind the pun).

River Boat Joe - The fish I in the pic and the one Joe is holding is the double we had on the first catch this morning.

LC Pointer - Its like McDonalds, da da da da I'm lovin it!

And all my CNR haters should be happy to know that all fish were returned to the water...This time.

Hey, nice fish and a good report! I do feel a little dizzy after looking at those first 2 pics though.

Looks like a good trip Curado. For the most part I fish jerkbaits faster and more aggresive than most people, the exception being Rogues which I fish with soft twitches. I am glad you like the Carolina Keepers. I have several of them that I bought a lot time ago and I personally hate them. They slide up and down my line like crazy and fray the heck out of it in the process, but I am using flourocarbon line too which probably makes all the difference in the world. I even tried using two of them thinking it would help but it didn't. Anyways it looks like a great way to wrap up your time at home and give you something to look foward to when you get back.

I was using them on the 12# CXX and never had a problem with it. This seems like a fast trip home. But hopefully I will be back as quick as I left.
